9am yesterday. Had op about 2pm Manchester Royal. Bit sore now hopefully will recover smoothly.

Congratulations! I'll see you at Clinic no doubt! I had my transplant there at the end of July.

7/1/13 - Getting on with life
24/9/13 - Left Radical Nephrectomy of Native Kidney due to cancerous tumour
14/10/13 - Back to work, getting on with life

Now 35 with Alports and I had my first kidney-versary 18th feb 2013....I hope to have many more.

Thanks for the replies. The surgeon said it was very straightforward and didn't take long to do at all, kidney started producing urine right away. Just got to hope things go as smoothly as possible. I was due to have the pd tube fitted next week so decent timing.

Great stuff. Also i'm just curious where exactly do they put the transplanted kidney in the recipient? I heard they put it somewhere near the hip, is that right?

They put it low down on my right side.

Fantastic news, all the best for your recovery. Just follow the rules to the letter and you'll make good progress. Incidentally yours is where mine is, I got my husband's, which was a big, lean kidney and although it's noticeable, I love my bump! Keep posting your progress! :)

Hi Jonny,

I know you only had your transplant 3 days ago but how you doing so far? Do you already feel better than before you had it?
