I got the call

Post by xtiand »

On Wednesday night at 12.30 I got a call to say there was a match for me. We went to MRI FOR 7am as instructed. There was a bit if a wait and I finally went to theatre at 1.30am on Friday morning. I was back on the ward by 7am complete with my new kidney. Today the drips and neck line were removed and I got out of bed to sit in a chair for the day. The kidney is a 6/6 match so hopefully recovery will go fairly smoothly. My oxygen levels are a bit low so I have a plastic toy with 3 balls to practice lifting by sucking air through a tube. So far I can lift one and a half balls.

I'm recovering well, progress seems slow but I know it isn't really. I'm waiting to have the bottle drain removed then the catheter will come out in a couple of days. I can walk around the bed but the bottle drain seems to be sited awkwardly and is painful when I move so it will be better when that is out. Hospital food isn't quite as bad as on previous stays or maybe I'm just hungry!
