Success!!!

Post by dirverd »

I'm happy to report the Operation was a success.

My brothers kidney started working in me straight away. I went down for the Op at 2pm and was back on the holding ward by 7, before returning to the main ward at 10pm. Got out of bed after lunch and went for a wander.

I'm a little bit sore and tired, but over the moon.

Glad to say my brother is OK too.

The next 6 weeks (or longer) will be a juggling act to get the immunosupressents right. But so far so good.

Thanks for all the wishes of support, it's weird how a group of people I've never met can help me so much.

Thanks
Thelma

Well done. I had my new kidney from my hubby on the 30th April. You were up and about quicker than me. I'm not finding the meds routine too bad, though my tach levels are too high at the moment, so it's a bit of a juggllng act.
I'm really happy for you. Well done.

My brother's now gone home and I've all my tubes removed, except for the cathater which comes out tomorrow. (they've said it has to stay in for a minimum of 5)

Then I can go home tomorrow. And, finally get good nights sleep.

I can honestly says me and my brother were never in any serious pain. Sore, stiff and awkward but it was all very well managed. The whole experience at Guys has been excellent.

Thanks for listening.
