No kidding, pricey eh! But the lunch menu is actually not that expensive, and the food sounds really lovely. I hope it lives up to it's reputation. Do tell how it goes, I'm always on the lookout for new & great places.

Congrats :D

The meal came out at exactly £500, so £100ph. This included pre-dinner Gin, 2 bottles of wine, 3 courses and post dinner whisky.

Pictures to follow, but it was a lovely meal. The food was delicious, and the service impeccable. I can now believe how a lasagne can cost £20 and be worth it...

I could never see a world in which I pay £20 for a lasagne, it may just be my Yorkshireman in me coming through but I did think..."HOW MUCH!!"
Now 35 with Alports and I had my first kidney-versary 18th feb 2013....I hope to have many more.

My living donor and his family are doing all well.

But, once in a blue moon, for a very special occasion, I think you should treat yourself to something very special, even if it is £20 lasagne 8) . I think your tx anniversary qualifies.

I mark the occasion of mine every year, no expenses spared. This year was my fifth, a top of the range ipad marked the occasion a couple of months earlier. Next year, a trip to San Fran is planned.
Some people climb mountains instead!

You promised photos

I did!

When I get a moment, I'll upload them, along with a trip to a most incredible cocktail bar I went to this week.

Complete with a smoking owl cocktail dispenser. No really!

Looking forward to the Owl!

I am off to Brasserie Zedel next week for dinner, never been before but i like the look and the sound of the venue. Quite French but not stuffy, more relaxed.

Sanela,

I meant to ask - does the Tacro shake make you clumsy? I'm always dropping things and I was wondering if it was due to that.

Had a very interesting morning at the NeuroPsychologist testing my memory.

Lots of tests involving numbers, words and colours and building things with blocks. Some were quite easy, some absurdly hard.

I'll get the results next week before it goes to the Consultant. A 2 hospital day as I've got renal clinic in the morning.

I don't know whether you're on a statin, Tibbs, but mine made me REALLY clumsy. We had no plates left.

The neph took me off when I described what was happening.

I used to be on a Statin, but they took me off it after the transplant. I didn't like them, they definitely messed with my head.

The shakes definitely made me clumsy, dropping things all the time without even trying...I try to do various puzzles and tests from the newspapers. Some times I’m better than at other times, probably depends on the complexity of the test, makes sense. It will be interesting for you to get the results, to see if what you think about your memory matches with what the results are.

I was on statins before my tx and curiously, while in hospital for my tx, nobody gave me any. I mentioned it several times but they didn’t seem to care. I only started taking them again when I was discharged because the pharmacist picked up on it. So, for a few months I was taking them, my memory became really, really bad, to the point it started affecting me at work. I mentioned it at the next clinic visit and was taken off the statins, I noticed a difference in my memory getting better within 3-4 days so I’ve never taken them again. Prograf/tacro has an effect on your memory anyway, so do statins, and it seems the statins amplified the effect in my case, so it was explained to me.

Amanda, i haven't broken any plates but a few glasses have gone to and early recycle heaven...

There was a bit where I had to do a freehand drawing. I can not draw a straight line - Seriously my niece is 6 and could have drawn neater than me...

Clinic day today and in and out very quickly.

Everything is great and my BP of 120/70 before I took my morning tabs is now low enough to totally come off my Amlodipine, which is amazing! I was only earlier this year that I had to go to RAU because my BP was way too high on only Doxazosin when I came off the Beta Blockers.

Also went to get my memory results. Turns out there's nothing functionally wrong with my memory. It looks as though my issues are around concentration and attention. If I work on those then my 'memory' should also get better.

Trip to Bodean's tonight to eat by bodyweight in meat. Turns out my bodyweight is lower than before too - 94.4kg! That's down from 101kg 8 weeks ago. Christmas slowed things down a bit but I'm still really happy.
