My chemist ALWAYS has trouble with Myfortic; I have to ask them a week or more before I need it. The issue appears to be that they have to order directly from the manufacturer, because pharmacy wholesalers sell it abroad at a profit because of the weak pound, or something... anyway, the point is they have to get it from a different source.
I'm seriously considering asking to be switched back to CellCept. The switch to Myfortic made little difference to my health or results and it's a load easier to get hold of!

Hi Tom. I have the same issue with myfortic, and generally end up having to take 4 of the smaller tabs twice daily to get the quantity prescribed. The pharmacy don't like prescribing it in this way as they say there is a cost implication. I don't remember now why I was changed from cellcept, but on one occasion when there was no myfortic to be had, I rang the transplant unit in a panic and was told, oh just go and get cellcept, it makes no difference.
Best wishes to you on your first anniversary Tom.

The half full glass or the half empty? it's a no-brainer!

That's very interesting. I'm gonna ask next week when I go back about switching.Aileen wrote:on one occasion when there was no myfortic to be had, I rang the transplant unit in a panic and was told, oh just go and get cellcept, it makes no difference.
I think I (and a lot of people) were switched after being told Myfortic would fix bowel issues, but it made absolutely no difference, only dropping the dosage did that.
Hope your supply issues get sorted soon tommc
THAT'S why! I too was having some 'bowel issues' (lol) back in ?June/July time and I was swapped over to myfortic. I don't think there was ever any evidence that cellcept was the culprit, but I've been on myfortic ever since.

I can't speak for Aileen but for me it was cramps after eating, urgency and loose stools, pretty much all the time, but especially in the mornings. Not quite diarrhoea, but not that far off either. It was quite depressing. I was told the CellCept (MMF) might be the cause and that the Myfortic was slower release and with enteric coating so may be better for me. Had no positive effect that I could discern, until the dose was halved. All is well these days, unless I drink too much alcohol.
Thanks for the info all. It was a bowel issue that got me changed to it from MMF. Helen it would be a polite way of saying the runs. I called the renal pharmacist at the western a couple of times today and couldn't get an answer. However when I got home i had a message from the chemist saying the had the remainder of my script in. Hopefully when I get my next one I wont have the same problem.

Another one here who had problems getting a hold of myfortic, i collected it from the chemist this morning which was ordered the last week of April .I had to get some from the hospital while waiting as my GP only gives me 28 days supply.
I also had bowel trouble with mmf and was switched to myfortic in hospital.
