i personally use worldwide travel and have had premiums around £90 odd for three of us.

details on NKF webpage, http://www.kidney.org.uk/holidays/insure.html

alternatively give freedom insurance (not affiliated to the dialysis holiday company) a call http://www.freedominsure.co.uk/ quoting St James's KPA if you take out the quote offered

We insured with.Abtasure,/City bond travelsure, which was recommended by Freedom.

. Previously we used Tescos, but for some reason they weren't willing to ensure me as I was on a diet. (They insured me for Hamburg only a few months ago, Tesco's loss.)
Possibly I should have had words with them as my dad was doing the booking.

Keith, what do you mean, dialysis plans. I'm dialysing on hols of course, but that gets sorted by Freedom:)

wandablack, I'm staying in Las Americas, possibly we'll bump into one oneother:)

There's a new company on the block, for dialysis travel called just that

http://www.dialysis-travel.com/ I spent a fair amount of time at the NKF conference chatting to Dr Berger the founder (I think), seem to a good enough company..

Twas me who asked about dialysis plans.
Sorry I don't know what sort of dialysis you do, although I thought i read home hemo. Just wondered how you do that in teneriffe? Just curious for my own future reference. Is it a pain to organise?

No Kath, its not usually too much hassle, and I'd advice those on dialysis to go for it:)

If you visit an EU country then you can get 2 weeks free (recipricol) treatment in another unit. Hence I will be dialysising in a unit in Tenerife.

Freedom http://www.freedom-apartments.com , who are organising this holiday, do the booking for the flights, hotels and dialysis.

All I have to do is make sure I have insurance, and get certain bloods taken from my hospital, as well as a fit to travel letter from the doctor. This is usually all the usual bloods, plus hepatitis and HIV tests, as well as MRSA swabs.

Getting the blood tests done in time in the UK is sometimes the most challenging part as most units do bloods once a month and don't always 'get it' that you need them doing sooner:)

I'm looking forward to it, I'm pretty sure it'll be better than my visit to Crete:)

Hi Jman

Hi

I did dialysis in Las Americas and it was good. The hospital, staff and facilities were great! they bring sandwhiches round on a trolly with bottles of coke, sprite etc.

Its been about 7 years since i was there so it might be different now.
