Living unrelated transplant coming up - Tuesday 2nd Dec

Post by Nicky »

Hi,

Just a quick note to let those of you who know me that Trevor is giving me one lof his kidneys on Tuesday. It's been a long and slow old process and I've had to have plasmapheresis to remove the antibodies I have against Trevors blood. I've had 2 sessions so far - the first was tough, I fel very ill with b/p plummeting and lots of vomiting, the second session was a bit easier and I'm hoping that the final one will be ok tomorrow.
Also on a drip of IVIG immunoglobulin (I think) that's ok but if they do i too quickly I vomit - there's a lot of that happening!
Anyway - I will write again with an update after the op and keeping everything crossed that it all works out ok.

Love to all xx

Lots of luck Nicky - I have my fingers crossed! There was a patient in the same day as my tx who had the same thing, and he is doing really well so although he was a bit slower than me out of HDU it just demostrated the marathon not a sprint aspect of a good tx!
