Wonderful news.....

Post by Dotty »

I had THE CALL and am now the proud owner of a living donor kidney.

I cannot believe how very lucky I am after such a short time on the list.

The transplant was done on Tuesday and I awoke feeling like a huge veil had been moved. By yesterday all my bloods were back to normal levels.

I wish you all get the same news soon.

Dotty,

That's fantastic.
New year new start.

Can I ask did you know your living donor or was it through the transplant list?
I have this theory that "the public" is not aware of living donation and that if it were more high profile there would be more donors.

Best wishes. I am delighted for you.

Hi Sue,

I don't know my donor. All I know is it is a gentleman aged 40-45 who needed to have the kidney removed, I've no idea why.

Thus was all done via the transplant list.

I still can't believe how lucky I am.

Well WagonLyn they wouldn't let me keep my lippy on for the op...but you can be assured that as soon as I was back in my room it was on!!
Am doing really well, if it wasn't for my family being full of colds then I could've gone home today, instead they are keeping me here until at least Monday.

What wonderful news to start a cold monday morning, now the fun really starts as you adjust to a new chapter in your life.

The number of Altruistic kidney transplants reached 369 by the end of december 2014, thats one day and has almost trippled in the last 18 months. if it were not for living donors and Altrustic donors the list would be much longer

http://www.giveakidney.org/
Now 35 with Alports and I had my first kidney-versary 18th feb 2013....I hope to have many more.

My living donor and his family are doing all well.

These Altrustic donors are very special people for sure, well all donors are special people, but the fact that the Altrustic donors are giving a organ to someone they dont even know.
