UMBILICAL CORD.

Post by webster »

Our fifth granddaughter was born on Friday. When the umbilical cord was cut there was only one artery. The midwife explained to my son and his wife this can lead to kidney problems, they will have to keep having her checked. My husband got IGA. could there be a link? Has anyone else ever heard of this?

These two links may give you more information:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IgA_nephropathy

I think the suggested checkups for the baby are a precautionary measure and do not necessarily imply the baby will have any kidney problems.

Bust wishes to mum and baby. :D
