Re: The Date is NOT set any longer
Today they changed their mind and decided that my brother is not yet ill enough for the transplant, so it has been deferred until he gets two consecutive eGFRs below 15% :x :x :? . How annoying for you and your brother! I would have thought they wouldn't want him to get more 'Ill' before they made ...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...
Your creatinine (from what I've read anyway) is going up not down Tibbs, I genuinely hope this isn't a bad sign.. How are you feeling in general? I mean your level of creatinine post tx is higher than mine is currently and I've only got (had) 27.1% gfr the last time I got checked, how is your gfr at...

Re: IgA Nephropathy
Hi, please go easy on me - I'm very new to CKD and to this forum! Late last year I was diagnosed with IGAN at 35 years old. From what I understand I'm very fortunate as it was diagnosed very early and at the moment I still have very decent kidney function. Since that time I've searched the web for ...

Re: Neph visit 11th March 2013
2mg of Candesartan is a waste of time, that won't be doing anything of note. Amlodipine is a good drug for blood pressure though although 5mg is again a very low dose. When I had your function I was on 8mg Candesartan, 10mg Amlodipine and 7.5mg of Bisoprolol. As well as steroid treatment and immuno...

Re: Neph visit 11th March 2013
Blood pressure in clinic was 144/99 and Creatinine was 255. Dr El-Kossi did say though my bp could be high in clinic literally because I was 'in clinic' so I could have been anxious/nervous etc, which I usually am no matter how hard I try to control it! He used the words white coat hypertension. I c...

Neph visit 11th March 2013
Hi all, Well had my 4 monthly visit to my neph on Monday and it wasn't too bad I guess! Kidney function has dropped to 27.1%, below is history of gfr. April 2012 GFR 46.5% (which triggered referral to the renal unit) May 2012 GFR 34.9% (after I'd been started on Ramipril in April) July 19th 2012 GFR...

Re: Severe back pain/collapse
I have only heard of people with PKD getting localised back pain due to inflammation of kidney/kidney pressure. Do you have PKD? No I have FSGS apparently, it says on the letter sent to my gp Focal segmental proliferative GN likely IgA but immunofluorescence negative. When I had a ultrasound before...

Re: Severe back pain/collapse
Thanks everyone for the replies. If it's worse in the morning it could be your mattress - my back is much better since I treated myself to a new one. Didn't realise my old one was so knackered until I slept in someone else's bed and woke up feeling like a new woman. :D You could be right Cazpi it co...

Re: Severe back pain/collapse
Where in your back? I've never heard of chronic kidney trouble causing that kind of pain, though a dull ache when you have a cold or other infection can be common. At the bottom right hand side of my back mainly but it can be the entire bottom of my back as well, really severe pain where it feels a...

Severe back pain/collapse
Hi all, Well I woke up earlier today and went to do something relatively simple, think putting my foot on the bath to take down the shower curtain and lo and behold I collapsed :( basically my back just went and I had to be helped back to the bedroom till I could get up myself! Is this par for the c...

Re: Antihistamines
The one I've been told about is Cetirizine, I rang the renal outpatients today to check if it was okay to take and just my luck they were closed! But I spoke to someone on Ward 32 at Doncaster and they took my name and number, said they'd check for me and ring me tomorrow to let me know.

Antihistamines
My gp today recommended that for a rash on my face (mild but to me unsightly) and some mild itching I still occasionally get that antihistamines might help, Cetirizine to be precise, so I bought some today (don't know if they can be prescribed or not) the ones I bought were 10mg ones, but in the lea...

Symptoms of CKD your experiences
Just been thinking it might be beneficial to new members of this site to read what symptoms ckd sufferers have had and at what level you experienced them at (if you can remember?) such as tiredness, itching, pain in your legs/body (where in the body etc) I mean I personally have suffered from the fo...

Re: Fed up and don't know where to turn, advice needed pleas
Hi Sporti, I finally got a gp at my practice to listen to how I was feeling (think packing in taking my meds and discontinuing treatment, I felt that disheartened by how I was being treated, more ignored to be honest) anyway I had an appointment with a different doctor today at my gp practice and I'...
