I became pregnant when I had had my kidney transplant for 7 years also. I must admit that it was only when I had actually became pregnant that I really started thinking about side effects to the baby (maybe because mine was an ivf pregnancy and I really didn't expect it to work!). I did see an endoc...

Johnsor's reply

Hum, I would be extremely unimpressed if I found out a transplant unit were checking on me in that manner as Johnsor said - seems like a breach of privacy to me, and surely must be unconstitutional in some way or other? Not being a US citizen I wouldn't know if the latter is true, but put it like th...

I agree

I have gradually come to agree with people being able to sell a kidney should they so wish, albeit in a highly regulated manner. To prevent against 3rd world country exploitation the organs it could be legal to only procure them from the country of the recipient - maybe that is naive to think that i...

letter

Hi, I wrote a letter soon after my transplant to my donor family. I can't remember exactly what I put, but I know that it said how sorry I was about their loss and how they were in my thoughts. I also told them about my aspirations and how the transplant had made those possible. I received a letter ...

how do they know?

My question is how do they know if you are on both. All you would need to do is get a copy of all your documents to send to a Spanish unit and who would know that you were registered in both countries. I can't imagine that any checking is done. It would be more a problem of logistics getting to the ...

PD support & how long to stop hurting

Hi, I have tried both types of available belt and have not got on with either of them. I hate to admit it but I don't actually tape mine anymore, the irritation was driving me mad. I just tuck mine down my panties and that keeps it in place ok. It doesn't seem to get pulled. It took quite a long tim...

I really feel for you and can fully understand your frustration and anger at this insensitive man (give him a copy of my post if you want to show that you aren't the only one who thinks that he's out of order). I think Johnsor's suggestion is a good idea, and yes, I would threaten him with legal act...

yes

Hi, I have suffered the same symptoms in the past and it does seem to be related to anaemia in my case. Actually, a little interesting thing here- whenever I have done a lung function test while I was doing my degree, I had the best lung function of everyone, male, fit athletic types included. The o...

dailysis options

Hi, Have you considered peritoneal dialysis? That may be an option if you don't like the thought of a fistula? You have a catheter, but it's hidden under your clothing. Amanda

Hi, I'm Amanda, I'm 41 years of age, and although I'm British I currently live in California, with my husband and son, blake, aged 3. I have lived over here for four years and at present have no plans to return to the UK to live. I am currently on PD using a cycler at night, have been back on dialys...
