Re: RE: Transplants and yoghurt!

Thanks all for comments. I have received a long, detailed research paper from my dietician which states that although natural yoghurt and 'Bio' / 'Probiotic' can share the same combination of the main five live cultures, it is those labelled 'Bio' and 'Probiotic' that have higher quantities and shou...

RE: Transplants and yoghurt!

Hello All I am 15 months post transplant and am embarking on a diet (thanks, steroids!). I love Greek yoghurt (Fage Total 0% Fat) but have noticed that it contains live cultures. I know this is a no-no for transplantees. After lots of research, and by the very definition of yoghurt, I am unable to f...

Re: CMV

Hi Sarah My transplant was just over a year ago. My donor was unrelated and was CMV positive whilst I was negative. I took valganciclovior for the first three months then contracted CMV so went back on this time double dose. The first year for me was all about a low WBC which can also be caused by t...

Re: CMV virus seven months post TX

Hey! Thanks chaps! As always, feel a little better after reading responses. Will know more after wed appoint and bloods. Last week showed creatinine of 124 and egfr of 44 which are good figures for me. Had very low wbc before and stopped mmf for a while. Now swapped to myfortic. Still at work in sch...

Re: CMV virus seven months post TX

Hello Anyone else had CMV after stopping Valganciclovir at six months? Have had low white and red blood count and platelets; a UTI and CMV all confirmed in the last ten days! Back on 900mg of Valganciclovir twice a day ... Stupidly Googled (a lot!) and have scared myself half to death! Thanks for an...

Update Jooles

Hi Chaps Just sharing some good news: 1. Consultant described my latest results as 'boringly normal' - I was elated! 2. First weekend caravanning - poured with rain on Day 1 and Day 3, but Day 2 was amazing. Walked for around 7 k across Purbecks in to Swanage, watched the Regatta, drank some Rose ( ...

Re: CMV ?

I too take Valganciclovir. Originally one 450mg tablet per week, then one every other day, now one every day until Sept 19th (six months post TX). Dosage increase is due to how well the transplanted kidney is functioning. More is needed the better the kidney is working to stop CMV virus taking hold....

Re: London bridges walk 2015

Well done Sue! It was quite an accomplishment wasn't it? Felt very emotional crossing the line - silently thanking my donor. It was lovely to walk with fellow patients from my hospital (QA Portsmouth) and fabulous to see the Renal staff walking too. Lovely to see all the kiddies and dogs and a very ...

Re: Taking pills - how long don't you eat

In hospital I was taking the majority of them in the morning with breakfast. Still do. Take Tacro I hour later. Again, been told that routine is the most important factor.
