Re: Wanted - a moisturiser that works

Many thanks to all for the helpful suggestions and information - I have embarked on a trial of everything listed (not all at once!) and will let you know how I've got on... loving the fact that there is nothing that is horrendously expensive!
Again, many thanks :D

Wanted - a moisturiser that works

Hi folks, 2 years of immunos are taking their toll on my skin and I wondered if anyone could come up with an effective (possibly medicated) extra duty moisturiser for the body... I only have to scratch my leg absentmindedly and I can break the skin if I'm not careful... my skin is very dry and proba...

Re: Biopsy Recovery

Hi Thelma, I never had a biopsy of my native kidney (s) - I was lucky enough to avoid that as I've heard that a biopsy of the transplanted kid is a walk in the park compared to the natives. I'm sorry your holiday is going to be spoiled, might they postpone it to the second week so you get one week p...

Re: Biopsy Recovery

Yet another example of how protocol varies from unit to unit. I had 2 biopsies in the 12 months following my transplant as part of a clinical trial, which I volunteered to take part in. On each occasion I was biopsied with a local, then I had to press a heavyish icepack onto the biopsy site myself w...

Re: Life with immunosuppresion

To be honest, apart from zealous handwashing, there is nothing I do differently. I work full time across several schools and also in the community and there is always somebody with a streaming cold, sore throat etc. That's life! I could go to the supermarket and encounter the same infections so I do...

Re: Taking your pills

:::laughing:::: Trev is exactly the same as your partner, I could set my watch by him, 9 pm and here it comes 'You taken your meds yet Ailie?' ... he's the obsessive, not me!!! I appreciate it really and on the morning round, colleagues at work chip in if there has been no sighting of the little tup...

Re: Taking your pills

I remember thinking I'd get myself one of those 7 day dispensers but was told by the renal pharmacist to keep immunos in the wrap/special foil and only pop them out when required. So I have a small plastic box, a tupperware kind of thing that I keep one 'sheet' of each med in, easy to carry to work ...

Re: flying after transplant

Hi, California 7 months post tx, which is a fairly long flight. The tx team were happy and wrote me the covering letter. Insurance was reasonable, about a hundred pounds for the three weeks. I think it's a very personal thing, and of course is dictated by how well you are doing, what the medics say ...

Re: Myfortic (Mycophenolate Mofetil)

What my pharmacy do is fax my monthly requirement of myfortic to Novartis the week before I need it. (I get my scrip from the GP the week before I need everything and it's submitted directly to pharmacy) Since I started to do this, I've had no problems. Anna Hill is the contact at Novartis should an...

Re: post transplant seasonal cheer - am I drinking too much

<assumes crash position> :::lols:::: Actually, what I've been doing is having a day where I've drunk a bit to a lot more than normally, then a rest day and so on... not binge drinking in the grand scheme of things, but I guess go with whatever works for you. The period of overindulgence is almost do...

Hello there. I think second year post transplant came as a bit of a surprise to me too, in terms of greatly reduced clinic visits, less obvious support, supervision etc and sometimes I crave for the old days when you knew you would see someone that week, or at the very worst, that month - whereas no...

Liz, how horrendous for you. I'm sorry to read of the death of your dad, and angry about what you now have to challenge. All power to you.
