Hello Nicky, I was smiling as I read your post, cos I also have a Trevor who is donating to me, how spooky!!! We don't yet have a date for transplant but it will be between October and New Year, depending on today's eGFR. I'm not surprised you're finding it hard to concentrate! Just wanted to wish y...

Hi there and many thanks for your responses... I think it's going to depend on the bloodwork this Tuesday, if I'm still cruising along at 14 then I guess we'll wait till New Year as originally planned. A sudden dip is a worry, the neph did tell me a bad case of flu could easily take care of several ...

Hiya Thumps, the thought of a neckline makes me go cold, so yes, a fistula definitely does cover all bases. Actually Haemo would have been my choice of dialysis too, I know it's a very personal preference. I'm a bit all over the place what with this sudden invite to the transplant party in 3 weeks t...

Fistula and pre emptive transplant

I just noticed while looking through the board at work (sssshhhhh!) that one of the posters, namely you Thumps (!) is going for a fistula even though they hope to transplant you prior to you needing dialysis. As you know we are in roughly the same time zone regarding transplant and a fistula has nev...

Feeling panicky/bemused/irritated/blah

Got home from work last night to find a message from the transplant co-ord on phone... panic (as you do!) phoned her back but obviously she'd gone home. Rang the unit this morning, and spoke to her colleague... the gist is could I come in on Sep 26 for transplant?! The situation is, husband is donat...

Re swollen ankles. I forgot to say that since being diagnosed with APKD in 1989, I was put on increasing doses of lisinopril to control BP. I can honestly say in almost 20 years I had little or no side effects with this. When we began to talk transplant with my local neph, he said he wanted to take ...

Hi Amanda, I don't seem to get the swelling anywhere but the far south. Sometimes I think my eyes are exceptionally puffy and gritty in the morning but I can't say that's due to poorly functioning kidneys. So did your doc rule out calcium channel blockers? and if so, what did he offer in their place...

Hi and thanks for the replies - good to know that there might be options despite medic opinion! I know swollen ankles are small potatoes in the grand scheme of things but if they can be avoided then I would rather avoid! Thumps, keep in touch, sounds like you're on a parallel course to mine. I'll be...

Swollen ankles

Hi folks, briefly, scheduled for transplant in the New Year, and I'm a very lucky woman to be receiving a kidney from my husband. Work up's been done, husband having final CT scan on Monday to see which kid. is easiest to remove. My egfr is approx 14, but I am still working full time in a fairly dem...

Hi folks, I'm probably not posting this in the right place so please forgive the gaff. I'm Aileen, from Peterborough, Cambs (originally Stirling, Scotland) and post work up this week, for both my husband Trev and myself, am waiting to hear if it's all systems go for Trev to donate to me. Wonderfully...
