No luck this time......
Hi all Just thought I'd share this, in case it is of any use to anyone in anyway! Those of you that have been on here for a while will probably remember that the process of a living donation from my husband all went horribly wrong last year, when he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. He had a partial...

Re: Help with my blood test and how I have been feeling
Hi Lister I am not medical and so not qualified to interpret your results, however, what I would say, your Creatinine appears to be in normal range? As for the change in eGFR from 87-76 in a year - this doesn't necessarily mean anything? It may be that you were a little dehydrated on the second test...

Re: CKD Clear Urine
Hi Henriettab
My urine is almost always completely clear and looks like water. I have polycystic kidney disease, stage 5 CKD, just approaching dialysis. I understand this is pretty common, because of the kidneys inability to 'concentrate' the urine.
Good luck!

Re: Water Softener
Hi SKM23435 - yes, softened water is different to soft water and you definitely can't drink it (transplant or not). We had one at our last house (also SE England). It was brilliant in terms of limescale in showers and the need to use less shampoo/detergents etc etc, but you couldn't drink it as it i...

Hi Hannah I am a professional female, aged 51, stage 5 kidney disease, active on the transplant list but still pre-dialysis. Ditto what johnylefox says, happy to answer your questions, so ask away. I have copied and pasted in your questions below and answered next to them. Is there anything that hel...

Re: Getting tested to be a donor - Some Questions
Hi Harry Echo what Thumps says above. Keep in mind that the 'e' in eGFR stands for 'estimated' and it is just that, an estimate. Different labs use slightly different calculations. There is always a difference between the eGFR reading I get from bloods ordered by my GP for example and bloods ordered...

Re: Hello everyone - Back again on here - Jim
Hi Dibs/Jim Can either of you tell me where the nearest haemodialysis unit is for Exmoor? Are Barnstaple or Taunton areas the only options (assuming they have them), or is there anything else, would you know?? Good luck on the 22nd Jim. Try not to worry. I am certain that they would not be doing any...

Moving to South West - Advice Please!
Hi All We are planning to move to the South West in the next few months. I grew up there (went to school in Lyme Regis) but moved to the outskirts of London, in Kent, around 25 years ago. Anyway, I am now going back! My question concerns kidney appointments, dialysis and transplant etc. I am current...

Hi Sally
Just go to the main page of the forum and then click in the 'New Topic' button which is up in the left hand corner. Then write in your title in the 'Subject' box and away you go! You could then just copy and paste what you have written above into the new post.
