Re: Post transplant surgery.

I had a nephrectomy on the other side, (see posts passim) and there was no effect on my graft kidney. In factv my creatinine went down, but that was probably because I did nothing but drink water while I was in!

Re: Travel and eGFR

Why the max flight time? I flew to Thailand (12ish hours I think) at 15%. I got proper compression socks (i.e. the ones you get fitted for in surgical appliances) and no sign of puffiness at all! It's all about how you feel. I know people who were on dialysis at 20%, and a lady who I think was still...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

Been a while since an update, but things are moving along. As a result of that clip, I'm having another angio at some point to have a look at the blood flow into my kidney. Booking time unknown, but hopefully soon, and before Jeremy Hunt (it rhymes for a reason) sells the NHS to Richard Branson for ...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

Yes, 'twas me! I always sit around the corner near Dr Galliford's office if you want to keep an eye out - I get better phone signal there... Everything is fine as far as I'm concerned, creatinine is coming down. It's 280something right now, it was over 300 a month or so ago. I'm back in a couple of ...

Re: Kidney removal

I got the same thing when I had my kidney removed laproscopically. She said that she might have to open me up idf necessary. Bear in mind now that you have to be aware nowadays of all the risks and possibilities. The days of a doctor just doing stuff and not bothering to tell you the details is over...

Re: Flu Jab Immune Supressed ?

I've had flu jabs for ages, both pre and post transplant. Sometimes I get a sniffle afterwards, but this year everything was fine. Injection point was sore for a day or so.

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

I still feel great - I've certainly not noticed a difference. The MRA was fine. The radiologist said everything looked great, but I needed to wait until a consultant looked at it to make sure. Yes, the protocol is new. It wasn't in place when I had my transplant in 2012, though I have incidentally h...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

Thanks - I guess they're taking the opportunity to look at my smaller artery.

Not heard anything about the biopsy, so fingers crossed, all is ok.

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

2 Hospital visits next week. I have an MRA (no idea what the difference is between that and an MRI...) on Monday I think, to look at my kidney. Then on Thursday I'm having a home sleep study to see what's up with my snoring. It's not bad but my (now ex-) girlfriend (very light sleeper) found it toug...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

After getting back from holiday I had my clinic appointment and my creatinine was up to 310 from a baseline of 240-260. Went back the next day and it was still 306. but not going up which was a relief. The protocol at HH is now to do a biopsy at 1, 3 and 5 years, to make sure everything is ok in my ...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

That's interesting, I put all my tabs in the boxes every 2 weeks. I have had one of my boxes get wet and the Tacro tablets (I guess they're actually capsules as they contain powder) were just dissolving. I think I'll raise this at my next clinic appointment as this may be why my levels are all over ...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

I've been back at hospital a bit more than usual over the past month or so since my cretinine has been higher than normal since June. They've been monitoring my Tacro levels, which have fallen from over 5 to 3.5 in the at time. The result is that my Tacro has gone up to 11mg twice a day. Hopefully t...

Re: Post-TX : Weight loss and taking supplements/protein whe

I gained (and lost) a load of weight post transplant. I use whey proteins, but carefully as too much protein is bad for your kidneys. Also be very careful of supplements. Certainly Green Tea extract was a no-go for me as it changes the rate at which you absorb some drug particularly Tacro. I think C...
