Re: MRSA
Hi Devils Advocate, Thanks for the reply. Being a registered nurse I am aware that we carry very many bugs on our skin. MRSA has a relatively low prevalence in NZ, so can understand the need to try and eradicate it before I come into contact with patients. When I spoke to the doctor on monday, he pr...

Re: Where is CHAT?
Hi Jess,
As Jman, said there used to be a chat room, but I am not entirely sure that it is still running.
I am almost certain that it isn't.
Cheers
Andrea

Re: Do you ever miss your meds?
Hi IgAn I replied to a post the other day by pritib, about feeling down, and I will be honest I used to not take my tablets, not regularly, (like I wouldn't miss them all the time- but some days I felt it was the only way I could control my life). Even being 7and half years post transplant, I STILL ...

Re: National Transplant Week (UK)
Hi Andy... I have only just read this... how was Cardiff? I miss it. If I was home I certainly would he strolled down to meet you! Hope it was fun and I hope that lots of people signed up. I personally think it is important that people in Wales should sign the ODR been is taken away from them, almos...

Re: Transplant Doubt
I would agree with most of the responses- so I wont go on to write a long one myself. All I would say is that although there are risks with transplant, there are also risks with remaining on dialysis. It may be that it doesn't feel right now, but after a while, you may change your mind, so it may be...

Re: Feeling a bit down
Hi Pritib, I totally understand where you are coming from. About a year or so post transplant, I just felt down, I just couldnt shift this heavy weight off my shoulders. It may be worth mentioning it at clinic, but they may also suggest that you speak to your GP. Do you participate in any sport? Oft...

Re: Alcohol
Hello :-) I used to drink a lot of alcohol, Major binge drinking of getting totally drunk a couple of times a week. Now I may have a drink once a week, or before I moved to NZ it was maybe one drink once a month. Often my excess drinking was a way to be in control of the situation I was put in, I us...

Re: MRSA
Thanks for replying Fabrette. I have used hibiscrub in the past for washing my prosthetic leg liners- and have also washed patients with it in work, so know what its like. It certainly drys out the skin a fair bit too. When I spoke to the infection control nurse today, she mentioned about starting o...

MRSA
Hey everyone hope you are all good. I have had to have MRSA swabs done prior to starting work as a nurse over here in New Zealand, (its routine). However I have just recieved a phone call to inform me that I am MRSA positive in all 3 places swabbed. I guess I can't say I am surprised as I have worke...

Re: Where to put your PD machine
I'm not sure if you are in the UK or not but I used a trolley from Argos. I've just searched for it now online but cannot find the link. The machine fitted perfectly on the top shelf, and bags used to go on the shelf below, it had wheels so meant that didn't have to carry bags too far! If I can find...

Re: New Zealand
Just a quick update, we are still in shaky New Zealand, and have found out this morning that my residence visa has been approved (thinking that 5.3 magnitude earthquake at 3 am, was the start of something). Very exciting- as it was hard work proving that I was worthy enough to have even with the cos...

Re: Taking your pills
I take mine when ever- I could never stick to 12 hrs as I work 12.5 hr shifts. Most difficult is when I find I work nights I just cant seem to find the right balance. This has been a long standing issue for me- taking my pills- I am the worlds worst at forgetting them (apart from RIK), and taking th...
