Re: Hunger with hemodialysis
Yes it is, I eat for England. Then my weight goes up and the neph is like "you are carrying too much fluid" and dishes out extra sessions. The staff automatically assume any extra weight is fluid but I am eating lots. Today, Rice crispies, two toast, apple, nectarine, all you can eat Chine...

Re: About to start PD. 'Pulling Sensation'?
I started home PD in February 2016 and by December 2016 I was on hospital heamo, one of the reasons being the cramps. You MUST empty your bowels as often as you can. Having a load of lunge up there will would almost guarantee pulling pains in my case. Paracetomal didn't really work. Get pooping, eat...

Re: Rapid decline of EGFR
Always make sure you are hydrated for testing as dehydration may affect eGFR results. I was told never to get hung up on a specific eGFR number, but to watch the trend. Your trend is downwards. NOW is the time to request a diagnostic test of some sorts, especially if eGFR has gone down again. If you...

Never too young for anything really.
Age is not a shield nor a sword with kidney disease.

Hannah,
I cannot help.
But I would be interested in your findings, especially about time taking to do the tests for live donors.
Many thanks

Re: New lady
Welcome.
Lots of great people here and on various Facebook sites.
You are certainly not alone.
PKD is not my illness, I am more of an IGA man.
Take care.

Is Kidney Disease a Permanent Disability?
My employer recently terminated me (without actually letting me know). They owe me a deferred bonus but because I was terminated I do not receive the cash, which we really need. They said the bonus does not get paid upon termination except in instances of death or permanent disability. Surely IGA Ne...

Sleeping all the time
Kidneys failed 11 months ago. Been on home PD since. I sleep all night but recently I am sleeping most of the day. I wake to take my partner to work then sleep for about 5 or 6 hours. When she gets home we eat then I sleep. I am depressed I acknowledge that. Anyone else sleep tgis much? I had iron I...

Re: Working Overseas Post TX
Thanks all.
I actually work for an Engineering company in a contractual capacity.
My stints overseas were 6 to 8 weeks at a time.
I loved it.
Hope to get back to it.

Working Overseas Post TX
I was diagnosed with IGA in January 2014 and by January 2016 I was on dialysis. I was born and raised in the UK but for the last 7 years I worked all over the world, mainly the middle east, Qatar, Saudi, Dubai. I must be honest, I loved my job, not just travelling but the actual day to day job. I ha...

Re: How close is the end?
90 is one fantastic innings. I am 41, awaiting my first TX and I don't believe I will get anywhere near 90. Hopefully you can comfort and reassure your loved one, be with them and spend time. The question is not how long. You would not want somebody to be 90 then hit end stage renal disease, and the...

Re: Exercise and kidney disease
Hannah, I am a dialysis patient awaiting transplant. I have completed a B Sc some years ago, winning a prize for best dissertation, and I am currently completing year 3 of a distance learning masters degree in a legal field. I remember sending hundreds of questionnaires out and getting about 40 back...

Re: New Buttonhole Fistula screening protocol
I am having fistula inserted on Tuesday.
None of this has been discussed with me.
I just know PD is not working for me.
Good luck.
