Smoked salmon
Hi, I have had a tradition of 40 years where I always have smoked salmon scrambled eggs and bucks fizz for breakfast on New Years Day. I had a transplant 12 months ago and I'm not sure whether I can still have the smoked salmon or not.

Re: Very frequent urination after tx
My transplant was 12 months ago and I still have to get up every 60-90 minutes throughout the night. During the day I can go 4 hours between needing to urinate

Re: Any advice on how to prevent a headache after dialysis?
When I started heamodialysis I would also get terrible headaches afterwards. Apparently I was on HDF and they changed it to HD only. No more headaches

Re: Very frequent urination after tx
I did not pass urine for 3.5 years before transplant which I had 5 months ago. I urinate every hour and feel like I urgently need to go almost all of the time. I've been told I can 'train' my bladder to hold more for longer which I am currently doing. Incidentally after causing bleeding for a month ...

Hair loss after transplant
I had a transplant almost 6 months ago and about 6 weeks ago my hair started to fall out and continues to do so. I have been told it due to me taking Tacrolimus which of course I will have to take for the life of the kidney. Does anyone have experience of this and is it temporary or will it all go a...

Almost mine
2.30am Saturday morning I got The Call. Massive surprise as I was not aware that I had been activated on The List. I later discovered that it had happened on the previous Thursday. Went to the transplant unit, went through all the tests and waited. I had been told that it was a perfect match and tha...

Re: DIY SOS
I watched that programme as well. I think they over egged the pudding for the non-educated, which isn't a bad thing but also it was scary for those of us already on dialysis with their 'facts'. I felt the need to check out the life expectancy quoted with my Neph and he also told me that it depends o...

Re: Which transplant centre, Plymouth or Bristol? Thoughts p
Southmead is brand new, hence various problems including parking. One thing I will say is that they are incredibly strict about weight limits. They go by BMI despite t h e fact that it has been debunked. I have been trying and failing to get to their target for over 2 years (which means I'm not on t...

I love your sense of humour, that should help keep Mum's spirits. By the way I live just down the road from where they make Ribena.
Just a thought but does your mum still pass water (urinate)?

Re: NKF (UK) Helpline & unsupervised volunteers - caution
I phoned the NKF helpline once when I was desperate for some information and had no where else to turn. I was told to "phone another charity" and had the phone put down on me. I have never rung them since and do not feel inclined to fund raise for them. I also think they should spend some ...

Re: Hunger with hemodialysis
I know it's a failing of me but I object to people telling me what to eat. I know my body and it is surprising that when I have occasionally had food that are ab absolute no no and I am dreading my blood results, they are fine. I think alot of the problem with being hi gry on dialysis is boredom. De...

I was told that 'coke' of any description is an absolute no no which is a shame as I love Pepsi. I do admit to having a very occasional small glass

Re: Neckline insertion and prickly heat r ash connection
Hi wagolyn . Interesting that you mention citric acid as the fluid they inserted was called cit.........?. I told them I thought it could only be that and they changed it to something else and the itching is starting to subside. This site is so useful for problems like this as I found during my kidn...
