Re: Dialysis in Devon

Hi JMan. Plymouth definitely has a dialysis unit as that is main renal centre for devon and cornwall, i had my tx there. I believe you should be able to bus it to plymouth from Totnes. Contact the units at the hospital, plymouth is derriford hospital. http://units.renal.org/?c=plymouth. Hope that he...

Re: Relocation

Hi Thelma, I had my tx in May 2012 at Plymouth Derriford. I live in Bourenemouth since getting married but as my parents are still in Plymouth nd Dad donated it was easier to have it done down there than Bristol which is where Dorset transplants go. Good luck with you move! I'm not on advagraf, I ta...

Re: transplant options

I think generally you have your transplant surgery wherever is closest to your usual unit and has tx surgeons. For example i live in bournemouth, generally patients go to bristol to have their tx surgery as that is the unit used by dorchester/dorset renal clinics. However my dad donated to me and hm...

Re: Update on me and my brother

Hi Matthew, they wouldn't have picked it up during donor testing, because nothing flagged up as unusual (low cholestrol, low bp, normal ecg). He was almost 67 when he donated tho. He was very lucky they realised he had a heart attack tho he just said he felt dizzy and faint, mum took his bp which wa...

Re: 2 year tx anniversary spent in hospital after emergency

My dad had issues with scar tissue 2 weeks after he had his appendix removed, but my surgeon said thats quite rare and its much more common...
