Thanks.
I realise that I “learned” about these from you, but on my phone I can only see buts if the page!
I think dad was quite interested to find out more about this issue.

Re: Help me lower my phosphate
I just think the diabetes Doc’s attitude was wrong.
Plus I’ve learned there are drugs to BIND phosphates in your gut to keep them out of yr blood, so I guess these can be prescribed if his levels get dangerously high.

Re: Newbie questions alert
Thanks. They are supposed to be doing his fistula soon.
The nurse did mention that they could do a neck line in an emergency
I was just wondering how he’ll know he’s reached emergency time? He is very stoical and puts up with a lot of stuff without much fuss.

Newbie questions alert
I joined cos my dad is getting set to start dialysis. He's diabetic and alread lost a lot of his sight, and is not very mobile for other reasons. I went with him to see the specialist renal nurse, this week. I think her main job was to point out the downsides of committing to dialysis. Considering h...

Re: My dad and dialysis
Hi how did this go? My dad is 84 and similarly his kidney function was c18 and stayed the same for years then recently dipped dramatically to single figures, so now they are going to put the fistula in. He was not encouraged to think that he could have the "home" option for dialysis by his...

Re: Help me lower my phosphate
Why does it matter if your phosphate is high? I am just learning about this stuff with my dad, who is about to start dialysis. His renal specialist nurse said his phosphates were over 1000 in his urine (edit. I probably mean blood!!). So we went away and looked up phosphates in food, and decided he ...
