Re: Post-kidney transplant fertility & pregnancy
Hi, I've not posted on this forum for a log time however I thought I had some knowledge that I am able to give back. I had my transplant back in 2003. In 2014 I spoke with my transplant team about pregnancy and wanting to try and conceive. I was on Tacrolimus, and MMF. They took me off MMF, started ...

Re: Post transplant pregnancy
Hi, After changing my MMF to azathiarpine, it appears that I had a mild senstivity to it, causing GI upset and a mild rash, so stopped it. When I saw my own renal team, they thought that it could have been a stomach bug rather than a sensitivity, however, last week saw the team again and decided to ...

Re: Worth the risk?
Hi,
Just read your post and replies with great interest.
I wish you all the best and hope that the risk is minimal, I guess seeing as you have done it before that at least you know what the tell take signs are.
All the very best of luck.
Cheers
Andy

Re: Post transplant pregnancy
Hi Jo, I have just switched also from MMF to Azathiaprine, I am a little anxious about it, as 10 years of taking the same dose of a medication, I hope that change won't do too much damage. I am having my bloods re-checked in 2 weeks and hoping that there hasn't been a big change in my levels. Good l...

Re: Bladder emptying - good reason?
As a fellow amputee i totally understand where you are coming from about the hassle of putting legs on, its easier for me though as a double below knee i just crawl to the bathroom. Anyway, emptying you bladder fully will reduce the amount of residual urine left in your bladder therefore leading to ...

A gentle reminder for the Ladies.
Hi Ladies, Hope you are all doing well. Just wanted to remind you all to remember your basics; in regards to emptying your bladder fully, staying well hydrated, passing urine after sex, and wiping front to back! I know it sounds silly, but I think I had just become complacent with things, and I paid...

Re: Ward Visit
Hi,
if the powder is calcium resonium, then try mixing it with a drop of milk, much nicer than with water, so i have been told.
I am a nurse and always try to find milk to mix it with rather than water, so it is safe to do so.
Hope commencing on dialysis goes well

Re: importing medication from U.K to Australia
If you cannot carry the 6 months worth in one go, maybe best to send them to a safe place and then have your daughter collect them (if that is possible). Immuno supressed medication is expensive in every country. I have to be honest I would just take the full 6 months with me, it is very unlikely th...

Re: Immuno suppressants and teeth
Looking through old posts as I have been to the dentist again recently and had to have a heap more fillings. i am convinced that I don't take that bad care of my teeth. And am sure thought is either down to my meds or the fact that for a good couple of months my teeth weren't cleaned to my standard ...

Re: importing medication from U.K to Australia
Maybe she could have them sent to one place. My friend travelled for a year or so, and his tablets were sent to a friend who passed them on. When i emigrated i had about 4months worth tablets on me and Mike had the rest. No one has ever stopped or questioned me about them. I usually carry a letter o...

Re: New Zealand
Hi John, The moving process to NZ was pretty intense. I do not think I would have been accepted if I did not have a kiwi partner. There is a rule that excludes all solid organ transplants recipients from moving to NZ. I think that it did help that I am also a nurse. I am not sure how the health syst...

Re: Seasons Greetings
Hi Thumps, yes I am ok after the Earthquake- I was driving and struggled to control the car, and then the second bigger one I ran under the table. Mike has been working over night to try and restore power to the Eastern suburbs. Such a shame so close to Christmas people were really begginning to get...
