Re: Transplant Date!

I had a transplant 3 months ago and feel very good. Just tired. Tell him to be strong and take whatever is throw at him. Listen to advice from professionals, like trying to walk after. He has to drink a lot and therefore pee a lot. Everything is monitored e.g. daily bloods, urine output etc. Take ma...

Surprise transplant call

Update... on my husband's special birthday I got the call. I was shocked as I had plans for weekends away. Anyway straight to Cambridge. To be honest I was more nervous than anything and was there 3.5 weeks and getting frustrated stuck there. Two biopsys later and 7 plasma exchanges later sent home ...

Re: Difficult situation , to say the least !!

You will need to speak to the doctors and unit staff about this and l find you need to be persistent to get answers. As far as l know the NHS should cover the dialysis costs. I really wish her well and hope things improve. She is lucky to have you and it must be hard for you to face what she is feel...

Re: Anyone having acne problems?

Glad read about this problem as I have been getting alot of spots and thought it was hormonal. I've tried a few things already and might see my GP.
Thanks all. Really helps to hear about others going through the same things.

Re: GFR 5 o/o

Please get him to speak to a professional and find out the end result of no dialysis and hopefully that will make a big difference in his decision. It's so true that dialysis makes you feel so much better. He can start to get his life back to a new normal and enjoy the things he liked before he was ...

Pins and needles post dialysis

Does anyone experience pins and needles in the legs and hands after dialysis which disrupts sleep quite considerably.
Any information about this would be very appreciated.

Things do get better

Hi all I wanted to say that when we are new to the renal stuff with necklines, PD or new fistula it feels like things will always be difficult . People tell you it will get better and you don't quite believe them. After finally having a fistula the needling was stressful with all the trials and trib...

Re: 89 year old with kidney and heart failure - start PD?

PD does require training and organising all the supplies that get delivered. If it is done in the daytime then it needs to be done 3-4 times a day. Where liquid is put into the stomach and exchanged every few hour. I wasn't comfortable with and it is a huge responsibility and she will need lots of h...

Re: No protein in the urine but kidneys not improving

You are better off speaking to a kidney specialist who will be able to advise and maybe precscribe something to slow the decline. I was told kidneys don't actually heal but we are all very different and your numbers are not too bad so you are most likely still far away from dialysis. However l empha...

Re: Do damaged kidneys feel sore?

Your body should slowly clear the excess salt water. Maybe you are feeling that sensation. You don't feel damaged kidneys on whole but have other symptoms. I would suggest that you monitor that feeling and if no change then push for further tests. Depending on how bad you feel then go to your doctor...
