Re: chrisb's journey

Hope the move went OK, and the cats have settled. I'm moving the week after next, and my cats can tell something's up already. I keep telling them they'll love it, as they'll have a garden of their own after living in a flat, but at the moment they're just upset that all their favourite corners are ...

Re: Renal Patient View 2.0? <- What would you like to see?

I just had a look on th RPV wbsite, which says that RPV has now been introduced at Barts NHS trust - which i didn't know, so it should be available for those of us at the Royal London. Have applied to join, will keep you all updated.

Re: Muscle pain/joint pain

Don't know - I get no muscle pain, but bad joint pain in the knees, elbows, hip and knuckles. Not much I can do about it, except try and find a balance between keeping fit, and not overworking the joints, docs say that if it wasn't for the kidneys they'd give me ibuprofen but that's a no-no (as is g...

Re: Severe stomach problems, any advice please?

Like Chris, iron gives me the runs something rotten, I tend to just put up with it, because the anaemia was far worse than the diarrhoea, I was so anaemic I could barely move. The docs tend to be unconvinced, as iron more usually has the opposite effect. I have no doubt whatsoever that in my case it...

Re: Low phosphate diet

As a vegetarian, I really struggle with the phosphate issue, there is very little in the way of vegetarian protein that isn't packed with phosphate Left to my own devices I'd live almost entirely on cheese, nuts, yoghurt and pulses, so it's very hard for me. I eat quite a lot of eggs, and stacks of...

Re: Anyone interested in a London Meetup

Can do most days, as I work nights, but if it's one of my working days I need to remain sober.

Picnic perhaps?

Re: Can the gym affect your eGFR?

I did speak to my consultant last year about it and the only advice he gave me was not to do ISO holds (things like a plank) I do the plank every day, and my egfr has been stable for a good year, imo any small increases in creatinine are counteracted by the increase in overall fitness, blood result...

Re: infected

I've had painful eyes for about 3 days, thought it was hayfever at first, but now I'm blaming the dust in the air (all the vehciles are totally filthy with dust spots) It's been a little better today, I'm using drops a few times a day.

Re: Renal counseling

Rheaybou,
I have a whole workshop full of aluminium boxes which need a serious bit of whacking with a sledgehammer so they'll fit into the car for taking to the scrapyard, feel free to pop over! Glad you're feeling better, though.

Re: Night time weeing!

I would think taking the furosemide later in the day will make matters worse. I try and concentrate most of my fluid intake into the earlier part of the day, I still drink in the evening, just not quite so much.

Re: Skiing and other energetic activities!

I don't ski, but I have had no trouble with running, swimming, aerobics etc at 14/15% (I'm 49). I think it will depend to a large extent on your underlying fitness levels, and whether you exercise regularly generally. I struggled at 11%, but that was mainly due to anaemia. You sound as though you're...
