I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I've had very few side effects. The only two I suffer from is oily skin on my face and excess hair growth. It's not anything that face wash and Nair hair remover can't help.

While I was on PD I also suffered terrible joint pain. I finally found out that the drug Lipitor was responsible for most of mine. I agree with it being related to renal failure because after stopping the Lipitor I was still bothered by it, but not as much. I know a transplant isn't everyones option...

Pancreas Transplant After Kidney Transplant

I had my living donor kidney transplant on Nov. 9th (I am doing great and so is my loving sister). I was told by my doctor that after 6 months healing time we can start the process for a pancreas transplant. Well that time is here and I would like to hear from anyone who has gone thru it after their...

I had to register at www.davita.com before I could get one. Hope this helps.

I went to davita.com and registered and it said I will be receiving mine. It's supposed to be a blue one. Hope that helps you out.

I had to have 3 IV doses of solumedrol(sp?), which I understand is a strong steroid. I had my last dose on Saturday and by Monday my creatine was going down. Hope this helps!

Hi! Tell your Dad to hang in there. I just had my transplant 2 weeks ago and it is now starting to "kick" in. I too was like your Dad thinking that it wasn't going to work and started to give up and lose hope but I'm living proof. My transplant team called me today and told me that my bloo...

After Transplant

Hi Everyone! I don't know what I would do without all of you and this board. Just got my beautiful (as my doc. called it) kidney from my sister on Nov. 9th. Surgery went well, was producing nice clear volume and then all of the sudden my creatine level was up to 5, hardly peeing any at all, was told ...

It's a shame you wasn't told about it. My coordinator just warned me about grapefruit last week before I start my meds this week.
Take care and good luck!

Gengraf

Hey everyone! I know there's a chance that I won't have any side effects taking Gengraf , but if I do, does anyone have any suggestions on dealing with them? My transplant is Nov. 9th and I'm getting pretty anxious about EVERYTHING! My coordinator says I could suffer from vomiting, nausea, headaches...

Hey Amamda, I agree with most of what you say but I have a great PD nurse. I don't follow her strict rules and suggestions, I do what I think is right for me, like disconnecting when I feel like it and I have been doing this for a year and have not developed peritonitis either. Hopefully if everythi...

To each his own. I love doing night dialysis. I hook up, drain then fill and disconnct while I dwell and do want I want for 2 hours. My cycle is 9 hours. It's true that your nurse frowns on disconnecting but if you take the right precautions then nothing should happen. My tubing reaches to my comput...

Thanks for all the responses! The extra weight is terrible. I always feel bloated and my back is starting to ache. I really can't exercise cause I keep fracturing the bones in my foot (for no apparent reason). I am getting my transplant on Nov. 9th and hopefully after I stop PD the weight will come ...

Gaining Too Much Weight

Hi all! I hate to whine about things cause I know that there are a lot more people worse off than me but I can't take it anymore! Since being on the cycler I have gained 30 pounds and am still gaining. I bought a new pair of jeans two weeks ago that fit me perfect and I went to wear them today and c...
