Immunosupressed and bleeding problems
I need to choose which type of dialysis, but I'm struggling to choose due to 2 complications. Without boring you with details, I have a platelet dysfunction that causes uncontrollable bleeding (I was kept in hospital for 2 weeks last year due to this), so hemodialysis seems a crazy idea (especially ...

Re: What caused your kidney disease?

APD and travel
How do APD patients travel abroad?
You wouldn't put the APD machine in the hold, but can you take it on board? Isn't it larger than the permitted size?
Or do/can you convert to CAPD for a week or two whilst in another country?

What do you miss?
I have been told to enjoy my last few months dialysis free, rather than stress about what lies ahead. I think this is good advice, but I'm worried that once I start dialysis I will start thinking of many things that I wish I had done one last time before dialysis made it impossible or no longer enjo...

Re: Early dialysis to prevent further renal deterioration
Thanks for the replies. Many kidneys completely failed a little over 20 years ago and I was put on Haemodialysis 3/week and Plasma exchange 2/week. My kidneys recovered very well, initially, once the cause of the damage had been put in remission (Wegener's Granulomatosis). Over the last 20 years I'v...

Early dialysis to prevent further renal deterioration
First post so I hope my question/topic is not breaking any rules as I'm asking for opinions, not a diagnosis :) If someone started dialysis early, lets say when renal function is around high teens to 20%, would starting dialysis help to prevent/slow down further deterioration (in general) in the kid...
