Re: steroid reduction
Hi Aileen I was weaned of Pred pretty fast, about 6 months from memory, no side effects and creat consistently low around 90, it's bobbed a bit up to 110 and down to 80 but is generally low 90's. Just over 3 years post tx for me and I feel completely normal ( how wonderful something as simple as nor...

A Florida couple, both well into their 80s, go to a sex therapist's office. The doctor asks, "What can I do for you?" The man says, "Will you watch us have sexual intercourse?" The doctor raises both eyebrows, but he is so amazed that such an elderly couple is asking for sexual a...

Re: Shafted by Sheffield Again.
Boy are you going through the shitter, had my share of NHS incompetance and can sympathise, you get the impression that not only does the left hand not know what the right hand is doing, it doesn't know where it is. Just a word of advice, be mindful of what you say on this forum I've been bitten whe...

Re: how many on PD have had this
Not quite the same thing but I had a hole develop in the tube, I'd gone home at lunchtime to do an exchange and noticed on the way back my jeans were wet. Realising that there was a problem I rushed to the hospital hoping to get there before I fully drained out and the pain started. Got there in tim...

Re: BigBuzzard
Given the difficulties I've faced in disclosing my location lets just say I'm in the north of England. Funny most days I don't even think about renal failure, contrast with it dominating my life pre tx, I wouldn't hesitate to have another if needed, not sure my wife's sister would be so accommodatin...

Andy I'm so pleased for you, I haven't been on here in ages I knew your tx was failing but didn't know anything beyond that as I've had my hands full splitting from my wife and leaving Jersey. Also I've drifted away from kidney related stuff post transplant and perhaps that's as it should be. I sinc...

Re: Common cold post TX
Good point re colds, for my first 2.5 yrs I barely caught anything but I recently caught a cold a month ago and I still have it. After 2 weeks it almost got better then it got really bad again, it seems to be getting better but I've never had a cold that lasted a month in my life. Bearing in mind th...

Re: PD Catheter Op
It's different for everyone and recovery rates vary I was off work for 2 weeks and pretty much unable to walk for 4 days. I was told I could fly back to Jersey the next day but this sounded optimistic so I stayed 3 days with my in laws in London, still needed a wheel chair to board the plane. Mine i...

Re: Forum Topics
I'm with Andy on this ( sorry mate had to happen sooner or later ) the number of posts isn't large and if you log in daily you can scan through them in a couple of minutes. The danger is isolation with segregation of groups within the whole, the different scctions approach works well in larger forum...

Re: Creatinine levels post TX
Johnny B - I think most people know that drinking an excessive amount of water in a short space of time can be dangerous. It's what killed Leah Betts and not ecstasy as is widely thought, although it's fair to conclude she would not have drank so much had she not taken the drug. The body modulates w...

Re: Creatinine levels post TX
I can't stress enough the importance of hydration, my creat went through the roof immediately post tx and they wanted to biopsy. I said lets give it 24 hours I think I might be dehydrated - I was too much coffee. I make a habit of drinking a galss of water when I get up and another before I go to be...

Re: Starting to get apprehensive post transplant....
Your post sums up everything I despise about the NHS, when it works it's brilliant and when it does not there is nothing worse. It seems to me that you need to know if your transplant is failing, if so can anything be done about it, if not what is the projected timescale for your return to dialysis....

Re: Help needed with getting assigned to a UK unit
Thanks everyone, I emailed my GP in Jersey and he helpfully responded saying I could take a script I have from him to a health centre or out of hours clinic and they will make up the prescription for me. He also suggested that I register with a GP locally which I've made an application to do. I've p...

Re: Forgot to take my meds - anyone else done it?
I'll ring Guys again today and register with a local GP, I've set a reminder on my phone so I don't forget again. My GP in Jersey used to prescribe my meds once authorised by my neph, do you guys get your meds from your GP or renal unit? Keith given my proclivity for upsetting people I'll try the so...

Chris I love your term of phrase, it makes me seem cultured, felt similiarlary about my neph and mistakenly posted on here saying so - bit me in the arse when someone saw my comments and told him, public forum be careful I ended up travelling to another island for treatment when we fell out. Also to...
