Re: CKD - a book you found helpful?
Thank you very much, that's really helpful. However, although my eGFR on my first blood test was 58, on my second one it had shot back up to 82! So, it may well be just a fluke. It will be interesting to see what my next blood test shows. However, my GP has also ordered an ultrasound, so I'm pleased...

Puzzling eGFR results
As part of my annual check for high blood pressure I have blood tests for liver, kidneys, etc. Last year the eGFR was 80, which, as I'm 74, I was very pleased about. This year the eGFR was 58, which caused some concern. I've just had my second blood test of three, to check for CKD, and this time the...

CKD - a book you found helpful?
I'm 74 with high blood pressure, which is controlled with medication. Last year, my eGFR was 80, last week it was 58. So, I'm having further blood tests, urine test and, possibly, a scan as I have kidney stones. I understand that if CKD is confirmed, it will be my GP who will monitor me. As I unders...

Do large kidney stones eventually cause kidney damage?
I have two kidney stones, one in each kidney. At my last scan, a year ago, one is 10mm, the other 6mm. To date I have had no problems with them at all, apart from the occasional urine infection, which is simply cured with antibiotics. At my last consultation with the urologist, I asked if I needed t...

Laser Lithotripsy?
I have two kidney stones, one in each kidney, one 10mm, the other 6mm. I've also got a septated cyst, which is being monitored and is OK at the moment, and two angiomyolipomas (benign, fatty tumours), 5mm and 6mm, again, one in each kidney. I'll be seeing a new urologist shortly and I know that this...

Re: Devasting news (angiomyolipoma)
Hi BuzyBee. No, I didn't know I had them at all - no pain, no discomfort. They were found after an ultrasound scan to monitor my kidney stones, so I was quite surprised that there was another problem. Having said that, my kidney stones are now 1cm and 6mm and, thankfully, so far, I haven't had any p...

Re: Devasting news (angiomyolipoma)
Hi BuzyBee. I'm so sorry that your mum won't be able to donate. I feel for you. It must be a terrible blow. I had never heard the term angiomyolipoma either till about two months ago, when I was diagnosed with one on each kidney. From my own reading, they are benign, fatty tumours. Although benign, ...

Re: suggestion... how about introducing ourselves??
Hi everyone. I'm 69, a retired teacher, and live in the north of England. I've had kidney stones in both kidneys for a few years and, thankfully, am asymptomatic at the moment. However, my latest ultrasound showed that one is now 10mm and the other 6mm, so I'm not sure if the urologist will want to ...

Re: Benign fatty tumours - angiomyolipomas
Thank you for replying, Solo and thanks for the extremely useful link, wagolynn. I have found a little information online, but this website is very clear and I'll be able to ask the consultant relevant questions. I'd like to add that if anyone has these tumours, I would be very pleased to hear from ...

Benign fatty tumours - angiomyolipomas
I had an ultrasound last week as part of the monitoring process for my two kidney stones. Now I've been told that the ultrasound showed Angiomyolipoma. Not sure if there is just one or more, or the size. Has anyone else had these? I've been a little thrown by this and would appreciate any advice.
