Re: Muscle pain/joint pain

Thank you both. No, he’s not on statins. Yes, you’re right he needs to be a little more forceful with his GP. Had just wondered if anyone else had similar problems post transport.

Re: Very frequent urination after tx

Thank you to both Wagolynn and Chrisb for replying. I am pleased to say that things have vastly improved for my dad; he has seen a urologist who has explained bladder training and the need to give it time, at the moment it seems to be working. Happy New Year to you both.

Re: Very frequent urination after tx

Hi Chris My dad has PKD, been on dialysis and finally had a transplant in May. The transplant itself went well although it's been a long haul not helped by the fact he had to have another op in July. He has been experiencing exactly the same problem as you with the frequent urination and urgency and...

Transplant Date!

Can't quite believe I'm typing this but after the disappointment of two live donors being rejected as a match over the last two and a half years, my dad and his third doner have been given the go ahead and we have a date for two weeks time! I would be grateful for any tips or advice from any of thos...

Re: Size of PD supplies for transport

Hi, When my Dad started on overnight APD he changed his car and bought a Belingo specifically to be able to fit all the supplies in. He has used it to transport a week's supply. He uses the Baxter APD machine and it packs away into a small case, very similar to the size of a wheelie cabin case you w...

Itching

Hello, my dad is on APD and to all intents and purposes it is working well, however he suffers from his skin itching. I know this is a side effect of the dialysis but wondered if anyone had any advice on how to relieve it. Many thanks.

Re: Very low initial drain on APD

Hi Newbie
Is it worth ringing the Baxters Helpline number to ask their advice? My Dad started on APD in October and has rung Baxters a couple of times; they have been most helpful. It may be worth a call, assuming your husband is using a Baxters machine that is.

Hi Birdman I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a difficult time of late. Have you seen this for London:- http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/resources/patient-information/kidney/holiday-dialysis.pdf It may also be worth ringing the York unit to ask if they know of any other units in Yorkshire offer...

Re: Dimensions of Baxters homechoice APD machine

Hi newbie My dad has very recently switched from CAPD onto the overnight APD Baxter machine. I had a query and emailed Baxters and they replied very quickly. The email address I used was: shs_technical_northampton@baxter.com. I am sure they will be able to give you exact measurements. I will also as...

Re: How much fluid do you drink on PD?

Thank you once again Wagolyn, most helpful. Yes you are absolutely right - trial and error - it is just so individual. I find it so difficult that he never seems to get a definitive answer. His PET results were all good and within the acceptable range, ankle swelling much reduced but after a couple ...
