Re: New lady

hello Mandypink, I too have PKD (I’m also 50 :), have been through all the stages and now transplanted since 2009. As Dixie1 said, it's not the end of the world. Take your time to let it sink in, learn as much as you can about it (so you can ask questions when you see the nephrologist,) or as much a...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

Ah! I always sit in the far corner where I have a good view of the whole room – reading my book…I didn’t actually see you, not that I would recognize you in any case, just heard the name. I’m not back until end of February which is really new, I’ve been going back every eight weeks for yonks. Glad t...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

Hi Tibbs,
did my ears deceive me or were you at the clinic on thursday? I hope everything is OK, you had several tests done lately. I would agree, no news is good news at Hammersmith...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

Hey Tibbs, sorry to see you've had a bit of a rough time lately. Did you have your MRA today? I had one 6 months in, they look at the blood flow into your new kidney. I still have my dvd recording of the test, fascinating viewing it was. How do you feel, I mean, did you feel any different from your ...

Re: Forgot to take my Prograf last night

Hi Sporti, just carry on as normal. You can mention it to your doctors, for reassurance, they are best placed to advise you. It might help to set an alarm on your mobile (if you have one) as a reminder at 10.30 am and pm. Or, you could set up two alarms 5 minutes apart so in case you get distracted ...

Re: Gratitude after donation of kidney

Grey, Many congratulation to you on your transplant and many thanks to your wife for being so selfless. I had my transplant (cadaveric) almost 6 years ago from an unknown, generous person and, assuming, their family agreed to it too. It took me a year before I could write that letter of thanks even ...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

How weird is that…I've been having a similar problem lately but mine started from an injury exactly a year ago when I lost the nail. It grew back lovely and healthy but on one side it's pushing into the flesh more than it should. I think I might end up having the same procedure if it gets worse. I s...

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

The shakes definitely made me clumsy, dropping things all the time without even trying...I try to do various puzzles and tests from the newspapers. Some times I’m better than at other times, probably depends on the complexity of the test, makes sense. It will be interesting for you to get the result...

Looking forward to the Owl!

I am off to Brasserie Zedel next week for dinner, never been before but i like the look and the sound of the venue. Quite French but not stuffy, more relaxed.

But, once in a blue moon, for a very special occasion, I think you should treat yourself to something very special, even if it is £20 lasagne 8) . I think your tx anniversary qualifies. I mark the occasion of mine every year, no expenses spared. This year was my fifth, a top of the range ipad marked...

No kidding, pricey eh! But the lunch menu is actually not that expensive, and the food sounds really lovely. I hope it lives up to it's reputation. Do tell how it goes, I'm always on the lookout for new & great places.

Congrats :D

Yes I had nausea too but not caused by hunger, more like the build up of uric acid and other stuff that the kidneys couldn't filter out. Even the smell of certain foods would trigger it. These days post tx I am still very sensitive to some smells, even some I used to love. No idea why.

Re: The Team Tibbs Results are in...

I was certainly told not to lose weight in the run up to transplant to keep me off dialysis - the more body mass, the better able you are to cope with all the crap floating around your system. That actually makes sense to me and explains why nobody rushed me on to dialysis or ever told me to lose a...
