I take both at the same time on an empty stomach. I believe the time gap is necessary for some because cellcept can be irritating to the digestive system. Many folks have found the cellcept to be so irritating they had to switch to a different medication.

Since Polycystic Kidney Disease is suspected I would ask to be referred first to a Nephrologist who is a kidney disease specialist. In the early stages of many kidney diseases there can be few symptoms with confusing lab results leaving a GP floundering. A nephrologist will also get you into the nex...

Been on Cellcept, 750mg x2 daily and Tac (1mg am and .5mg pm) for 1 month short of six years with no problems so far. My facility tries to use the smallest possible dose of immuno drugs but don't believe they have tried monotherapy yet. I know there are facilities in the U.S. which are doing so but ...

Hi Tom Yes I've been there. Seemingly it can take up to a year for PTH and calcium levels to normalize after transplant so, in most cases but not all, docs tend to monitor levels for that period of time. My case was not very clear cut. My calcium level was either at the top level of normal or just o...

Hi Jonny, I think the replies you receive will probably be approx 50/50 as to benefit/no benefit from steroids. There seems to be very little answer as to why steroids help some people but not others who have been diagnosed with the same disease. I was diagnosed eons ago as a child with Glomerular N...

Hi Amanda, My husband suffers from severe Sleep Apnea also. For years he went undiagnosed and had all sorts of aches and pains. Sometimes he could barely function. He was tested for all kinds of immune related diseases and tried all kinds of pain medicine. I was the one to finally diagnose him with ...

Hi Pam, This is a decision you don't have to make just now. You have a lot going on just now. You are new to P.D. and you need time to grieve the loss or "death" of your present transplant. You will most likely go through most of the stages of grief. This is normal. your kidney has been pa...

Hi Pam, so glad you are acclimatizing to PD so well. You will be able to refine your diet more once you have a few blood labs done. I was able to include all foods if I was careful and balanced my diet. For example, I could include some cheese provided I was careful with my phosphorus intake that da...

Hi, I'm five years out from transplant and, to this date, no problems. I go to my unit every three months. My doc said most docs require six months but three is his preference to quickly zoom in on any potential problems. Other than blood including cholesterol, BP, weight etc he makes sure I am up t...

Hi Pam, I believe something was "lost in the translation" as the info on PD was transmitted between folks. Actually, the smaller you are, the better suited you are for PD. PD is the dialysis of choice for babies and children. Generally speaking, PD works better for women than men because o...

Hi, I had quite a lot of facial hair after being treated by steroids several times during my illness and had used all the temporary methods of hair removal over the years. Now on Tac and do not take steroids I was told after transplant not to use electroloysis because of the danger of infection and ...

Hi Pam, Sorry to learn your kidney is beginning to feel its age. I think you are very wise to start considering your options and learning as much as you can about each treatment. Both dialysis modes, as you know, provide good treatment. Some people, however, tolerate one better than the other and un...

Hi Keith, Prednisone was withdrawn in my case about a week post transplant. I know everyone's dosage of Tac varies according to their personal blood levels and the accepted trough levels of their particular unit. I take 1mg of Tac in the morning and .5mg in the evening which gives me a blood level o...

Hi Angel, I am 4 years post transplant. Originally I was on 3mg daily - 1.5mg morning and 1.5mg evening. That was the starting dose. As others have said, the dosage depends on your blood levels, other suppressants ( I take MMF), your transplanted kidney etc. For the past year I have been on a dosage...
