Transplant booked!!!

Hi all. I haven't posted for a few months. My lovely sister is donating a kidney to me and we were hopeful to get the transplant arranged before I needed dialysis. Unfortunately my kidneys gave up a bit quicker than we hoped and I have now been on heamo dialysis for 3 months now with a tessio line. ...

Re: Dialysis, when did you start..

I had never heard that the fluid can leak places. I had a session with a dialysis Nurse a few months ago but it all seemed very positive. Suppose they don't want to scare you off. Glad you are getting on so well with HD, and good luck with your fistula. I had my appointment with my consultant today....

Re: Dialysis, when did you start..

Thanks for your reply. I am seeing my consultant on Wednesday so hopefully we will make a plan. I am sitting at my desk today feeling sick and aching, like flu symptoms. It seems to have hit me hard in the last couple of weeks. Getting very tearful about things, need to pull my socks up really. I ha...

Re: Dialysis, when did you start..

Thanks for the reply. Are you having peritoneal dialysis? That would be my preference. From the sounds of it, it sounds the better option to still be able to work full time.

Dialysis, when did you start..

Hi all, I have just received via patient view my latest blood results which show I am now gfr8. I was wondering what kind of stage people generally start dialysis? How bad did you feel? I am sleeping lots, feel dizzy and sick most days and have a constant headache. But I still manage (just about) to...

Re: Feeling greatful ( so near )

Sad news the kidney wasn't quite right but amazing you have received a call so soon. Can I ask you what your Gfr was went you went on the transplant list? I am at 12 now, due to have my first transplant appointment with the surgeons at Oxford next week. I was expecting at least 3 years for a non rel...

Re: What gfr were you when you started dialysis...

Thanks Mandy, I will see what my consultant says next week. I am not 100% about how gfr works though as the 12gfr that I mention is the one printed on my blood report but when I see my consultant he has said in the past that my actual gfr is higher than on these results. I suppose a different more a...

Hello all, I have been lurking for a few days trying to get information from you lovely people and have finally plucked up the courage to say hello! :D I am a 37 year old female who in 2010 after years of kidney infections was diagnosed with "mild ckd". I then had a baby in 2012 and my cre...
