New holiday dialysis unit
I heard about this new holiday dialysis unit in Wells in Norfolk and thought it may be of interest. http://www.wellshospital.org.uk/renal_dialysis/introduction/ There is a large campsite with mobile homes and cabins etc next to the beach in Wells making it a good holiday destination. http://www.pine...

We were away for the weekend in Bridlington and got the call on Friday late afternoon when we'd just arrived saying that there was a kidney available for my daughter. They almost didn't get hold of us - they rang our home, my work, my husband's work and then an old mobile number! We had given them u...

We wrote to our daughter's donor family and were asked to leave the letter unsealed and undated as apparently they may not pass it on immediately if it's not appropriate (for example if they're having a difficult time) We didn't say anything about future contact, though in fact they wrote back immed...

We wrote after a few months to our daughter's donor family and she sent a card. We were asked not to put any date on the letter as the transplant co-ordinator would judge if they were in the frame of mind to receive it, and possibly wait a while before giving it to them. In the event we got a lovely...

I'm a bit late to this thread as I didn't see it before, and as you know I'm the carer of a kidney patient, not one myself. But I wanted to reassure you as far as possible with my own story, which is that I had an abnormal smear, colposcopy and then laser treatment around 25 years ago. I went on to ...

I love the NHS. When my daughter was first diagnosed with kidney failure I did some googling for information and came across a lot of US sites with information about how to pay for dialysis. I can't imagine having had such a devastating diagnosis and also having to worry about the cost of care. From...

Any news of Ed?
I think the last I heard he was out of hospital after having had such a difficult time, but the kidney was still sleeping.
Is there any more news? I so hope he is doing well.

I am so so sorry to hear about your daughter. I can't imagine how awful it has been for you on top of the emotion of the transplant. My daughter (16) had a transplant in November and I'm glad to say is doing well so far. She's in Newquay this week on a post-GCSE trip with her friends. I am hugely gr...
