Re: winter and vitamin d

My 6 year transplant anniversary , is coming in Dec.. I have had issue with calcium all along. Ca. is always on the high end. The last 3 years, I have not been allowed to take Vit. D, as the ca. will go even higher. My levels are lower than a normal person would have, but still acceptable for a tran...

Re: Anxiety Issues Post Diagnosis.

I chose not to use any medication(weight gain) after diagnosis of kidney failure. I went "au naturel" . Kidney failure prep. book in US says :You are now to enter a exclusive club of people. Crying is what you need to do, when needed. I was informed about the grieving process at a kidney m...

Re: EPO

EPO is a wonder drug, no bones about it!

I was on it pre-transplant and post for a short time. Took a little time to get it's full effect!
Only problem is, the hgb cannot get too high.

Re: Regrets

Hi Thelma, You are a fairly new transplant patient, I can see. It took me a good 6 month to get everything under control. Did have Epo for 4 mo. post tx. My new kidney was a sleepy one! After about 10 month, I was full of energy. Today, I still am energetic and sometimes hyperactive, which is proper...

Re: High calcium after transplant

Cath, That is a never-ending story for me! I am now close to 5 years post transplant and i am taking alendronate for the 3rd time. Labwork soon! I said no to a yearly injection. I would rather have the parathyroid surgery and be done, but they cannot find them on the scans. Would like to know if you...

Re: So you think it's funny, huh?

It is rarely discussed here...but, I find it increasingly difficult to have good solid relationship with the healthy population. My relationships are light and I use a lot of humor to survive. I do not have a pet these days, but spend incredible amount of time doing yard work. Healthy people with th...

Re: Driving

Do you have to report you had a transplant! It never entered my mind...was told I should not drive for 8 weeks by center. I would say you are more "awake"( unless one takes strong pain meds.) with a transplant, which is major surgery, like other major surgeries. For me , it took longer to ...
