Hi Jim, Long time no speak. I have kind of been ignoring the fact that I have kidney troubles for a while and escaping from it, hence no contact on here anymore. All is well with my transplant other than those lovely chest infections! I did home haemo for about a year and half so I thought I'd reply...

Hi, I always used one on my fistula both in centre and at home with heamodialysis as my fistula would not have been able to needled otherwise as its quite deep. I never had any pain from it or had any problems with the fistula, I always managed to needle myself each time without a problem. Good to s...

Hal, There is evidence to support both ways as JMan suggests. I used to needle exactly the same spot each time and with my fistula you can hardly even see it other than the scar at my wrist. It was capable of pump speeds of 400 as well so it is perfectly developed. The main issue is it’s easy...

I have another question which is for anyone doing daily HD or more frequent than 3 days a week. I am interested to know what needling technique you are using. I am interested to know if you have encountered any problems with more frequent need sticks. I was using the buttonhole technique where you n...

Hi, In regard to your question about the water pressure I certainly never had a problem but the water pressure is pretty good in my house. There are several portable RO units available in the UK that can give a large pressure increase using an internal boost pump to achieve this even with fairly poo...

Susie, I was doing short daily haemodialysis rather than nocturnal which was usually 2:30 hours 6 days a week. I have not found anyone in the UK doing nocturnal dialysis at any units. The main reason they always gave me was the fact that there was no remote monitoring available. This is supposedly b...

Daily/Nocturnal Dialysis
Hey All, Some of you already know me from the chat room but I haven't been around for a while. My transplant kidney is doing well and I've had it for over a year now as of the 31st of December 2003. Other than having more colds this winter I've been getting along fine. I only go to clinic every 6 we...
