decline in cognitive function with CKD?
Dear All, has anyone with chronic kidney disease noticed a decline in their cognitive function? I guess I first noticed things in 2007/8 when my kidney function started to decline but didn't think much of it. It is not until now, after having a eGFR as low as 4, been on PD dialysis for 3.5 years and...

Re: Post-kidney transplant fertility & pregnancy
Hi folks, so I came off of MMF at the end of December and have been taking azathioprine as an alternative since (not allowed to conceive while on MMF), BUT since coming off MMF my creative baseline of 90 has crept up to around 107. I've to go into hospital on Wed for a biopsy of the TX kidney. I am ...

Re: Coping with not having children
I've found this very useful, I am 13 months post-transplant now and spoke with my consultant today, he is going to take me off of MMF and put me onto a different immunosuppressant, said we could start trying 3 months after being off MMF. good to hear of others experiences! will keep you posted on ou...

Re: Securing PD tube
I guess it does all depend on where you live and what your practice suggests, however in the UK we are provided with waterproof dressings which can be used in the bath or to go swimming, I find these a godsend as I love swimming. They are a sort of pouch where you curl your tub into it! Might be wor...

Re: Blood creatinine over 1000, how do folks feel?
sorry - I am a PD patient, have been on PD for 3 years now while waiting for a transplant. I mentioned the numbness to the nurse, she thought it was likely due to my poor blood results, to try and help me stay on PD they have increased my bags from 2l to 2.5l and I am happy to say, day 3 of doing th...

Re: Peritonal dialysis
I used to do the overnight machine and then moved onto 4 x daily instead as I found a few problems with the machine. However, I did find the last drain could be painful, my nurse suggested elevating my legs and that seemed to work - you might want to give it a try! Good luck!

I agree, I have to give myself these injections fortnightly and it really is nothing, just a small scratch!

Blood creatinine over 1000, how do folks feel?
Hi All, Its been some time since I posted here. I was wondering how others with a blood creatinine level of over 1,000 feel? I've been on dialysis for 3 years now and I have started to feel this odd sensation, its hard to describe, its almost like a numbness or pins and needle feeling throughout by ...
