I tend to agree with the other comments that it would be unlikely that you would pass anything on to your daughter, in fact with you being immuno-suppressed you may be at a higher risk of catching something from her! I'm no expert on UTI's, but might be wise to ask your doc about the risks to you (h...

Probably best to get a simple urine and blood test done to put your mind at rest. In the absence of any other symptoms it's probably nothing to worry about but better safe than sorry. All the best.

I would think you’re probably safe enough Boris, if you’ve already had chicken pox then you won’t catch it again. And as far as I know, being exposed to the virus again won’t bring on an attack of shingles. The chicken pox virus is a cunning little bug; when you first get...

I suppose it depends how fit you are to carry the boxes. I just asked the delivery guy to dump them in the front room then I stacked them in a cupboard upstairs. I don't understand about the machine, cos when I was on CAPD it was purely manual 4 times a day without any machine. But if you're not fit...

Someone with chicken pox should probably have been isolated from other patients, unless they were way past the infectious stage. Even then they should stay isolated for 2 weeks since it's an airbourne transmitted virus and can be picked up by sharing the same space and air (especially in small enclo...

As far as I know, a slight pinkish tinge to the bag isn't always bad. I remember once I had this when I slipped on some ice and the bag was pinkish the next day. Guess I must have tugged or moved the catheter a bit. But if it's really dark or persistant then probably best to contact your unit.

Can't really help you out myself Nick, was on manual CAPD so don't really know anything about the machines. This might be a rather obvious suggestion that you've already covered, but have you tried speaking to the staff and patients at the Western Infirmary up the road a bit from Yorkhill? The PD st...

Damn, my cunning disguise as a multi-millionaire has been blown! My Roller is in fact a humble Vauxhall Astra and my Castle merely a simple house. It does have a nice view of the Lomond Hills though. I’m not even pogonophobic and would never dream of allowing a supermodel to drive my car. All...

Hi Boris, I’ve got a fleet of Roll’s Royces, all driven by supermodel chauffeurs. In fact I have many, many cars. I’ve also got a Castle up here in Scotland, a holiday mansion in Donegal, a Lear Jet and a large Yacht. Only one problem though, the beard would have to go. Iâ€â„...

Hi Steve. I’m so sorry that you and your mother aren’t on speaking terms right now. I lost my mother last year, very suddenly, and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wish I had spent more time with her when I had the chance. Life’s way to short to bear a g...

Just to add another question to the poll. How many of you are going to decide which party to vote for solely on the basis of who you consider to be the best at running the NHS? I’d be interested on what everyone here thinks is their main priority when deciding who to vote for.

Voted no on that one, I was never trained or told to use a mask when doing my bag exchanges. Went on holiday once to Portugal and was given a box of masks along with all the other stuff. Never used them though. Well, that’s not strictly true I suppose. We had a great time playing with them, w...

I tend to agree with the above. I don’t think out and out compulsory would work. What I do think would work is the idea of presumed consent unless that person has specifically opted out. So instead of carrying a donor card they would carry some kind of non-donor card that’s logged on a...

I’m just outside Paisley (Erskine), so the first bit of advice I’d have to say is to stay out of the town centre at night in case you end up under a completely different kind of knife! In my young and carefree days I almost got knifed twice in Causeyside Street. And believe me, you don...

Think I'd have to say that my unit are pretty bad at this. In the 8 years I've been there I can only remember getting 2 returned calls. But when you put that into the context that they've lost two blood test results and a 24 hour urine collection, then I’m not that surprised really. Admin wis...
