Menu ideas

No need to follow these menus to the letter - they are just a few ideas as to what to actually put on your plate!

  • DAY 1
    Breakfast - Weetabix
    Snack Meal - Beef and onion sandwiches; Madeira cake
    Main Meal - Grilled cod with chips ( par boiled - of course ! ! ); tinned peaches ( well drained ) in jelly
    Supper - Digestive biscuits
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint

  • DAY 2
    Breakfast - Toast and jam
    Snack Meal - Tuna salad with a crusty roll; fresh apple
    Main Meal - Chicken pie with mashed potatoes and broccoli; Ice cream
    Supper - Crispbreads with cottage cheese
    Daily Milk - 1/4 pint ( 1/4 pint used in ice cream )

  • DAY 3
    Breakfast - Porridge
    Snack Meal - Scrambled eggs on toast; jam doughnut
    Main Meal - Spaghetti bolognaise ( no Parmesan ! ! ); fresh peach
    Supper - Toast and honey
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint

  • DAY 4
    Breakfast - Toast and marmalade
    Snack Meal - Cottage cheese salad, bread roll; fruit yoghurt
    Main Meal - Beef stew, carrots and roast potatoes ( par boiled ); Victoria sandwich cake
    Supper - Fresh pear
    Daily Milk - 1/4 pint ( 1/4 pint used in yoghurt )

  • DAY 5
    Breakfast - Croissants with butter and jam
    Snack Meal - Bacon sandwich; tinned pears ( well drained )
    Main Meal - Iamb chop with mint sauce ( easy on the gravy ! ), new potatoes, cabbage; baked apple with custard
    Supper - Crispbreads with cream cheese
    Daily Milk - 1/4 pint ( 1/4 pint used in custard )

  • DAY 6
    Breakfast - Shredded Wheat
    Snack Meal - Egg and cress sandwiches; jam tart
    Main Meal - Chicken casserole with boiled rice; fresh apple
    Supper - Toasted crumpets with butter
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint

  • DAY 7
    Breakfast - Toast and honey
    Snack Meal - Home made beef burgers ( less salt! ); fresh peach
    Main Meal - Pork chop, mashed potatoes, green beans; semolina
    Supper - Corn Flakes
    Daily Milk - l/4 pint ( 1/4 pint used in semolina )

  • DAY 8
    Breakfast - Bran Flakes
    Snack Meal - Poached egg on toast; jam doughnut
    Main Meal - Beef and onion pie ( home made - less salt ), new potatoes, sweetcorn; apple turnover and cream
    Supper - Fresh plums
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint

  • DAY 9
    Breakfast - Porridge
    Snack Meal - Fish finger sandwich - plus a little Tartare sauce! tinned fruit in jelly
    Main Meal - Chicken curry and rice; cheesecake
    Supper - Toast and marmalade
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint

  • DAY 10
    Breakfast - Corn flakes
    Snack Meal - Ham and onion toastie; fresh apple
    Main Meal - Lamb casserole cauliflower, saute potatoes; trifle
    Supper - Scotch pancakes with butter
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint

  • DAY 11
    Breakfast - Croissants
    Snack Meal - Tuna with pasta ( bind with a little spot of cream ), side salad; shortbread biscuits
    Main Meal - Sausage and mash, carrots; fresh nectarine
    Supper - Madeira cake
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint

  • DAY 12
    Breakfast - Shredded Wheat
    Snack Meal - Cottage cheese/lettuce sandwiches; tinned peaches
    Main Meal - Pork chop ( with apple sauce ), roast potatoes ( parboiled ! ) sprouts; lemon meringue pie
    Supper - Digestive biscuits
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint

  • DAY 13
    Breakfast - Toast and honey
    Snack Meal - Plain omelette, side salad, bread roll; fresh pear
    Main Meal - Shepherds pie, carrot/swede; syrup sponge and custard
    Supper - Fresh cream meringue
    Daily Milk - 1/4 pint ( 1/4 pint used in custard )

  • DAY 14
    Breakfast - Porridge
    Snack Meal - Chicken sandwich; egg custard
    Main Meal - Grilled plaice, chips ( par boiled ), garden peas; satsuma
    Supper - Crumpets with butter
    Daily Milk - 1/2 pint
