Hi all
Some of you may remember me (some more than others!) .. I was transplanted by a living donation from my wife with a blood match and 1/6 HLA match on 13th Sep 2004. (lol...13th .. I'm a 13/10000 chance of finding a 6/6 match according to the system)
I'm on tac, pred, aza and have been for around 10 years now ...and(with theexception of one small blip when changing to this combo) my creatinine has been steady in the range 90-110 throughout...and still is (edit : at 12.5yrs creat = 92!)
So now I'm into my 13th year (12 years done) ...
The message I wanted to give is that 1/6 match isnt necessarily a bad thing ... I assumed it wasnt great at all ...i reckon I've now taken over 20,000 tacrolimus capsules so far and no symptoms that I'm worried about and no evidence of them doing any harm so far. Maybe one day ...but not yet!
I'm still hiking mountains and am about 40% (edit : 41/49 done at 12.5yrs post tx) of the way through my project (started this April) to climb thehighest point in every (historic) English County ..
