Hi everyone, thank you for letting me post on your forum.
I’m Hannah, a second year PhD student in the Geography Department at the University of Leicester, supervised by Jen Dickinson (former poster on the KPG forum as jenjen). I am currently researching the everyday experiences of kidney transplant patients and I am hoping to find out how the kidney transplantation process impacts the lives of patients at different stages (diagnosis, waiting list, transplanted). If anyone would like to read more about my research see hannahsm1th.wordpress.com.
I am wondering if anyone based in the East Midlands (pre or post-transplant) is willing to take part in my research and would like to be interviewed. You will be asked a range of questions about your past and present experiences of kidney transplantation and everyday life. The interview will last approx. an hour to an hour and a half and all information will be kept confidential and anonymous. I can either travel to you, or we can arrange a Skype or FaceTime interview. You will also be invited to take part in the optional second stage of my research, which involves taking photographs or recording video footage to show and tell everyday kidney transplantation experiences. All equipment will be provided for the second stage of research. All information provided will be kept confidential and anonymous, and participants can withdraw from this research at any time.
If this is something you might be interested in, have any questions, or would like to find out more, please reply to the thread, email me at [email protected] or call me on 0116 252 3631.
Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Would you like to take part in my research?

Hannah,
I cannot help.
But I would be interested in your findings, especially about time taking to do the tests for live donors.
Many thanks

From personal experience it is about a year in total from initial tests through to final blood/tissue match before TX.Johnylefox wrote:Hannah,

Hi everyone,
I am still recruiting participants for my research, so if you would be up for talking to me about your dialysis/transplant experiences (how it has impacted your everyday life, social life, relationships etc.) then please do get in touch with me!
Best wishes,
Hannah

Very interesting but we live in Cornwall so it's too far to travel for us.
