Lady Sycamore's invitation to chat

Post by oldborris »

I've been t rying for over a year to get into that chat room. Easier to get into the Bank of England or into Holloway's Women's Prison [if one is a bloke]. Every time they tell me that my user name and pass word belongs to someone else and while I know that that someone else is me from previous attempts to register/log-in, there is no way to tell them that.

Today I invented a new persona and a new password and was told that my attempt to register was successful and that I could proceed to a chat room. So I pressed 'chat' and was returned to the same log-in panel. This happened time and time again so I gave up. I know that you will be heartbroken that you can't chat to me [everyone wants to chat with me, even the Queen] but what can I do? My hands are tied, my lips are sealed, my kidneys died, my heart's unhealed.

Hi oldborris - try this:

Go to the chatroom and enter just a new username, with no password ... and then click Chat.

See if that works,

Hal.

OK next thing.

Are you using AOL ?

Do you have any anti-virus or firewall software installed ? e.g. Norton Antivirus or Norton Internet Security ?

accessing chat room

Post by oldborris »

Of course I do, Hal. Does the Pope go to Mass? Do I sound like the kind of bloke who would use anything else but AOL?

And yes, I do have an anti-virus thingamajig installed. And I wear belts and braces. Plus a virus-proof vest.

And I still can't access the chatroom.

Maybe it just doesn't like Irishmen.

I'm feling particularly unloved just now.

OK. The AOL thing is probably your problem.

What you need to do is connect to AOL as normal. When you are on you need to open Internet Explorer outside AOL.

You can probably do this by clicking Start and it will be on this menu (represented by a blue E) or clicking Start then going to Programs (or all Programs) and looking for Internet Explorer there.

Then put in http://www.dialyze.org/chat and do what you are normally doing (try a username which you haven't registered and no password to start) - it should let you in.

Any problems let me know,

Hal.

access to chat line

Post by oldborris »

Hal, Hal, Hal, oldborris exclaims despairingly, with a deep, deep sigh and a world-weary shrug of his shoulders, "why don't I just give up"?.

Life, or in my case, what little is left of it, is far too short for such Herculean tasks as this.

I did as you suggested [and, thanks for all the trouble you are taking over this arcane matter] and all I got was BUY DOMAINS.COM which excitedly informed me that "THIS DOMAIN IS FOR SALE"

Well may it be but I don't want to buy.

New "test" chatroom

Post by LadySycamore »

Hello all.

I decided to create a 'test' room of sorts on MSN. I am hoping that the compatibility is much better on that server (thanks to Jman for letting me know that the MSN chat doesn't work with Macintosh, Windows 3.1, Windows NT 3.1, and Unix).

However, everyone else is more than welcome to come aboard and chat. Granted, you have to become a member of the MSN group, BUT you are not obligated to post on the board. This is mainly for chat purposes, but if you would like to post, that's ok as well.

If you already have an MSN ID name, then you are halfway there. Here is the link to the group:

http://groups.msn.com/Dialyze-orgMember ... sages.msnw

The chat link is on the left hand side of the page. Once you've signed up, then click that, and you are ready to go. 8)

What I am trying to do is to link communities together and make this one of the biggest chat communities for renal patients out there on the web.

Thanks and hope to chat with you all soon. :)
