Waste PD fluid and the garden!

Waste PD fluid and the garden!
Hi everyone
Has anyone used the waste from PD on their allotment or garden. With the water shortages and with the good nitrogenous waste I'm going to have a test patch of garden. If anyone has tried this and if so what have the results been?

Not come across this one:) Seen bags used for dripfeeding water/feed to growbags etc.
Could be a thread for Green Nephrology http://sustainablehealthcare.org.uk/gre ... -programme
Of course hospitals have to dispose of all their clinical waste but why not make a start at home indeed:D

Only the best - I will let you know! They are taking root in the greenhouse at the moment with no idea of whats going to hit them. A friend who has horses thinks horse manure is better and that my dialysis juice may increase rodent populations. Horse poo or my toxins with a bit of dextrose. No contest! And my stuff doesn't stink!
Re: Waste PD fluid and the garden!
one of the baxter training nurses at kew said you can put it on your flowers etc, growing courgettes and cucumbers this year so may give it a go, especially with the hose pipe ban in force at the moment, at least the un-used fluid can be used

I feel a competition coming on so we may need a photo judgement later in the year.

They say you should pee in your compost heap, so why not empty bags on your veg.

Re: Waste PD fluid and the garden!
I've wondered about this for years. Would love to know the results. Someone MUST have tried it before...
IN fact there's a thread here where someone recommends diluting used fluid with 2 parts water and using on plants.

Thanks!
I've been chucking them on the garden fairly randomly and hope for the best. Can't wait to see what the results will be but it does sound hopeful with the previous thread you gave. The lovely rain over the next few days will wash it all in. When I've given plants to friends recently they ask now if I have put some of that 'stuff' on them because if so they don't want them. Makes me laugh when you consider what much the farmers put on the fields which stinks to high heaven.

Re: Waste PD fluid and the garden!
It is true that there is lots of nitrogen and phosphates in PD fluid (hopefully) - that should be good for your plants but it also has a relatively high concentration of salt...which is not too good for your plants..Be careful not to use too much PD waste on your garden or it will eventually ruin it. If you do use it dilute it first and dont use too much on one spot.
I have been looking at salt loving plants (like you find near the seaside or living in seawater) as a possible way of recycling PD fluid waste but so far no really good results..
