C) CAN YOU HELP US FIND "PATIENT ADVISORS" (patients who have had these
procedures)?

As you know we have started to recruit 'Patient Advisors'. This is a
pilot
project in Interventional procedures to get the views of patients who
have
had the procedures our committee is due to assess, earlier in the
guidance-drafting process.

We are enlisting the help of centres where procedures are being done
e.g.
NHS Trusts, and your help in approaching patients who have had the
specific
procedure to see if they would be willing to complete a questionnaire
about
their experience. These questionnaires will go to the first committee
meeting where the procedure is discussed with a written summary,
alongside
the questionnaires from Specialist Advisors. This means that patient
views
will be part of initial discussions of procedures. We will trying to
find
Patient Advisors for the following procedures. It would really help if
you
could contact me if you think you know patients who have had these
procedures or could 'advertise' for them on your website.

They are:

Procedures needing 'Patient Advisors'
*
Laparascopic deroofing of renal cysts (we would need people who have had
the
procedure to come forward by the end of December).

If you have any further questions about this e-mail or about the NICE
Interventional Procedures programme in general, please contact me at
[email protected] or on 020 7067 4767 between 8:30 and 4:30 (not
Tuesdays), or Joey Wong on 020 7067 5849.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Joanna
