Has your immunosuppressant medication changed recently?

This post is for anyone who has had – or is about to have - a kidney transplant.

The article contains advice that could protect you and your transplant. It highlights the need to be extra-careful to make sure you are taking the right anti-rejection drugs now that generic versions of ciclosporin, tacrolimus and mycophenolate mofetil have arrived in the UK. (A generic drug is a copy of a brand-name drug that is no longer protected by patent.)

But remember, always ask your transplant unit for advice if you are unsure or worried about any drug you have been given by your GP, community pharmacist or other health professional.
