Have a 5 year wait to go on the transplant list?

Hi
i have to wait 5 years, to be cancer free, to go on the transplant list, I found out whilst I have my operation, that I had PKD as well, which was not connected.
Just wondered if anybody did not have to wait these 5 years, If you have gone on the transplant list before the 5 years had ran its course, if so how come?
