Passing on a request from the World Kidney Day organisers:
World Kidney Day wrote:Dear World Kidney Day supporter,

The WKD Cental Team is looking to secure international media coverage in outlets including CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera with the view to raise the profile of the day and to raise awareness of the prevalence of kidney disease. We also believe such international coverage will help you with your local advocacy efforts.

To be successful with these high profile media outlets, we need to compile statistics on the prevalence of kidney disease and the burden of illness from across the world.

We want to increase awareness of the fact that kidney diseases can be prevented with early diagnosis. To this end, we need local success stories about patients who could have avoided CKD if they had been screened and diagnosed earlier.

We need your help!

We are looking for stories about patients and medical professionals who deal with Chronic Kidney Disease which will help us illustrate the true burden of illness from CKD.

More specifically, we are looking for:

Patients stories:
- Presentation of the patient medical background and daily life
- Pictures
- Possibly videos

As our particular focus in 2010 is on diabetes, patient testimonies and case studies from people suffering from diabetic nephropathy, which they could have avoided if screened earlier, is of great interest.

The healthcare realities in your country:
- Presentation from a medical professional which captures his or her daily activities and perhaps hurdles in dealing with the health system in your country
- Difficulties encountered to screen and treat kidney patients in your healthcare centre

To answer this email and send your stories, write to [email protected].

In advance, we want to thank you for your involvement and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

The World Kidney Day Team
