Nephrectomy and bleeding/clotting issues

Hi guys
I have another nephrectomy question. My mum died 6 years ago at a young age from blood clots in her lungs, she had previously had dvt years ago.
This makes my sisters and i high risk of similar type problems.
I wondered if anyone has had nephrectomy or transplant with these type of problems and how if it all it changed their surgery/recovery processes.
In my favour i am reasonably young (27) and i am not overweight, but was slightly worried about the implacations of these things, espcially since my surgeon said keyhole op has a slightly higher risk of bleeding complications etc.
