Anyone had a ovarian cyst removed ???
Hi five weeks ago i went to urology clinic just to check on my old kidneys and while i was there i went for a routine scan while having the scan the lady found i had a very large ovarian cyst almost 13 cm big .I,m now off to see a consulant on tuesday about having it removed (my tx team have been fab) i,m really worried about the effects on my tx kidney and was wondering if anyone else has suffered with this and does anyone know are they common with tx patients ??
Go to an obgyn or a reproductive endocrinologist. Make sure its still there next cycle. Many people have ovarian cysts and are fine with them. Sometimes they come and go with each cycle. Very rarely do they cause trouble and need to be removed. They generaly don't cause harm, unless trying to conceive.
Hi Suze
I Have had a kidney txp 25yrs ago and I too have had an ovarian cyst removed, it was about 8yrs ago now and I was at the time having tests to try for a baby. I dont remember being doubled up in a lot of pain but mine was similar in size to yours, just before they operated to remove it they did a scan to check and they had to drain 2 sick bowl's of stuff it was getting angry.
I too was anxious as it was the 1st op since the txp and they did say that they might have to remove an ovary, but was ok when I came round they didnt remove it, but I did have a lot of scaring internally the surgeon spent so much time removing them, and he didnt want to be in there too long, had txp surgeon on hand just incase.
I recovered well and up to now hasnt returned, having said that i have other issues, have fibriods, and im back on diaylsis now my kidney started to fail 3yrs ago, back on the txp list.
Anyway I will be thinking of you, everything will be fine keep in touch and let us know how you go on.

Hi Kathybean78,
Sorry to read about your trouble, see your GP about the pain urgently. Pain these days can be managed much better, and the pain may well change the clinical picture.
Best wishes.
