Happy Birthday, Everybody!

Post by oldborris »

Happy Birthday, Planet Earth. Happy Birthday, Sun, Moon and Stars. Happy Birthday, Universe. Happy Birthday, Mr. Man and Mrs. Woman.
Happy Birthday, Everyone.

No, this isn't as offtopic as might first apppear for if this is not our birthday, we wouldn't be here and nor would this message board.

We owe it all to Dr. James Ussher who found out all about it. Author of Annals of the World [1658] he worked out that, using bibical chronology and historical records of contemporary nations, the Universe and all that therein is was created between 6p.m on Saturday 22 October 4004 [cf.Genesis: and the evening and the morning were the first day] and 9 a.m. on the following Sunday 23 October.

So universally accepted were his calculations that the date of the Creation of the Universe was, by order of the King, printed on the title page of every copy of the King James 1 Version of the Bible [as appointed to be read in churches] where it remained until well into the 20th century.

So, Happy Birthday, to all members of this message board.

p.s. it is probably unnecessary to mention that the dates quoted are in Greenwich Mean Time. God, who can choose the best, wouldn't accept anything less.
