Any other BBS for HD patients?

Post by Kaz@Japan »

Hi! :D

I often have a look at this BBS and read the posts here. They all help me a lot especially in gaining information outside of my country (Japan). I feel that more people are on CAPD rather than on HD in the "Western ountries." I do not have any exact data but more people are on HD than on CAPD here in my country. This is an interesting fact.

I would like to get more information about HD abroad and am looking for any other BBS like this run by any organization or person outside of Japan. I know a lot of domestic sites but this is the only one "foreign" site I know as a BBS for kidney patients. If you have any URL of such websites, please let me know.

Thanks, Bruce!

I had a look at the HP you mentioned. It's an interesting one and I guess I can get more new iformation from this site.

Any BBS run personally will also do. Anyone who knows of these kinds of websites, please let me know.

www.dialyze.org
which also runs the only kidney chat site I know of on the web.

http://www.kidney.org.uk/discus/index.html

among others

Also don't forget:

news:alt.support.kidney-failure

and news:bit.listserv.transplant

If you don't have a newserver set up they can be accessed via the web via google groups
at:
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=alt.s ... a=N&tab=wg
and
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&i ... nt&spell=1
respectivly.

Wow, a lot more! :o Thanks, JMan! :P

I would like to join the chat as well if possible but there is a problem of time difference. I wonder when is the core time for the on-line chats by UK/US websites: any idea?

I do appreciate your helps, guys!

You can chat here:
http://www.dialyze.org/chat/

It seems to be active during the afternoons GMT (right now it's got 7 users on it).

Evenings also.. less so in mornings and at weekends.. but sometimes you get lucky..

The time difference between here (UK GMT) and Japan is +9 hours so its the middle of the night there when its after noon here.. If you try at about the time you posted before Kaz you might get lucky with some morning users from the UK:) Late evening at in Japan may be the best time.

Yahoo! Groups dialysis-support: this is the best group I know. It has about 20 postings a day, mostly American, some British, two Australians and one American-Japanese.

Bruce & JMan, thank you for the additional information  . I'll try on-line chat at the site you mentioned during late evening hours in Japan. Do you both often join the chat group? I hope I can "meet" you there!

Oldborris, thanks for your information, too. As I already have an account with Yahoo! UK, I am ready to join the group you mentioned. I had a look at it and found it interesting :o.

I could not find any of these BBS/chat sites without your help. I really appreciate it :P .
